Post by: Nurse Julie on November 18, 2022, 12:57:05 PM
Doing some more cupboards out 😊😊😊
New Yamiya (part No. F222) aftermarket headlamp brackets. I originally bought these for my 750 K2 but fitted a NOS OEM set that I found instead.
Cost me equivalent of €130 + €25 shipping.

For sale for £90 +post at cost.

No Ted, they only fit the 750 K2's.

550 headlight brackets will fit the 500 Ted. 500T might also fit if you're really stuck. I'd need to measure my pair and see if they are the same.

I do have a NOS L/H? NOS 500 headlight bracket Ted but it's not cheap, they are very very rare these days and command obscene prices.

Thanks Ken, I'm doing away with the fork gaiters & ears - going to fit a similar headlamp to my 400 using fork mounted aftermarket  brackets - the next owner can go for original.

Italian Mold Lab are now making stunning replicas. Quite a few people I know have purchased them and are very, very pleased with them. They are not cheap but at least they are available. They are also in the process of making replica tank trim for the 500/550 and I think that is going to be a very good seller. No price yet but that won't be cheap either.

Whilst the addition of being able to buy new headlight brackets is a welcome step forward I’m not so enthusiastic about the tank trim. I found the method of fitment caused rust because the clips went right through the paint layer, the water then collected in the trim and added to the problem. If I bought any I’d attach it to the tank using silicon sealant, enough so it also kept water out of the trim altogether. A lot of seam leaks were caused by the trim IMO.

Yes, gotta agree with that because I've had a similar experience with rust and tank trims in the past.
