Title: Front master cylinder repair.
Post by: Mitchv60 on October 20, 2012, 05:35:45 PM
Just been trying to repair my master cylinder but have a bit of an issue.
After spending 1.5 hours trying to get a rusted circlip out I've managed to dessemble ,clean and reassemble my master cylinder it now it is leaking.

My question is this.I have a clymer manual which I'm using and this shows that the primary and secondary cap should be between the spring and piston.
But on the one I've removed the secondary cup is fitted to the piston.

Is the clymer manual wrong as that how I fitted it?

                     Cheers Mitch

I've just done mine on a 400F. You fit the secondary cup over the piston - just mind not to bend the snowflake things.

Here's a picture, old/new. Ignore the order I've laid them out in but you can see the secondary cup on the old one.

If it helps anyone - I bought a pair of these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0034A6B6K

They are just about long/thin enough to reach down to the circlip.
