Title: VIN number question
Post by: MarkCR750 on July 11, 2015, 06:09:17 PM
I have noticed a difference between the way my VIN number is stamped on the frame and the way it appears in my log book, stamped on the frame the first 5 digits are CB750K then a dash, then  seven numerals, however in the log book it is printed CB750 then a dash then seven numerals, so they match apart from the K which is missing on the printed log book, please could someone have a look on their bike and log book and tell me if that is normal, cheers Mark.

On my 400 the plate on the bike has CB400F then a dash then seven digits.
On the V5 it has CB400F2 then a dash then seven digits.
The engine number also differs between the bike and the V5.
On the engine it is stamped CB400FE then a dash then seven digits.
On the V5 it has CB400F then a dash then E then another dash followed by seven digits.
The digit parts are the same on the bike and the V5 so that's good enough for me.

Logik sez that as long as the numbers are the same you should be OK but this is DVLA so anything could happen, could be worth a telephone call to them but note the name of operative and date/time of call and ask nicely for written confirmation if they say its ok
