There was one of those 450D's auctioned in the UK earlier this year ...never met reserve.

I have  asked him what happened to the one he got from the Mecum auction

going off the subject - did you see that CB1100RB (early half faired model) - I had one of those that I bought for £800 with 81,000 miles on the clock - fully re-built it and only needed rings, big ends and mains where perfect! (plus normal camchain related stuff). Was a very quick bike even by todays standard. Sold it for £2,500 - wish I had it now! loved the ride and looks.  Hindsight hey!

 ;) nice find ash
@ oddjob yes legal requirement by the yanks in the seventies ,they was afraid that the old catch would pop open and spill petrol everywhere in a crash, all nos tanks came with a cap lock needless to say i removed mine for the early latch, and i want more than 35p for the old lock BTW :)
DS did say it had been restored probably never got round to changing it back .Vic world supplied the sandcast for the Honda museum,he would know

;) not for k1 i think it came out with k2  about 1974
I'm sure did see a service bulletin on it  ,and any nos tanks to USA was changed to lock,as you say yours came with latch so spose it was the owners choice to stick with old latch, but Honda had to supply cap lock on nos tanks to keep in USA guidelines ,i have had two nos tanks from DS with locking caps one a k0 the other  k2

Someone on the USA site said you can still get a recall on the tank catch for replacement free ..
