I would use OEM bolts for the crankcase half's. Pistons "should" have their oversize marked on the flat next to the piston pin, but I have a set of Honda +25's with no markings. Ade at cga fabrications in Poole can do weld repairs on alloy cases 01202 747405.

If its a normal bolt the Suzuki part number contains diameter and length.
Whereabouts in Dorset are you ?. I live in Poole and have a couple of 400/4, I have a number of the special tools needed for pulling the engine apart i.e clutch hub nut rotor puller. If you get stuck let me know.

I have a f2 frame but has had the airbox tabs removed and some bracing and a steering damper boss welded on. I do have a S Reg V5 for it but as the reg has 300S I have been advised its worth £450 just for the plate. If I could retain the plate I would be open to offers for the frame. I live on the south coast so could send it up.

Misc / Open / Re: NOS CB400/4 RED TANK

I think all tanks supplied as a replacement part came with the locking fuel cap even if it was not fitted when new after there was reports of the original ones springing open in accidents.

No box, but it did have the locking fuel cap which would come with a later NOS tank. Can't remember if mine has the tap masked off, and its not easy to get at to check.

I have a pair of Honda ones re chromed ready to go. open to offers by PM.

Sorry if you've mentioned this before but where did you get the rechroming done?

Paradise Chrome plating
Mumbai
India

I was living there a couple of years back so was bring stuff over and all the time and had it all shipped back when we returned. Had no problem doing exhausts and a few days turnaround. He said he would still do stuff for me but I don't trust the postal service and its a long way to go to sort any problems out.

CB350/400 / Re: REMOVING ENGINE OF 400F
« on: July 09, 2013, 09:12:11 AM »
Bolt is attached to a steel nut held captive by the crankcase, the bolt is m10 x74mm these are no longer available from Honda. If you replace these with standard nuts and bolts make sure they are 74mm as the left one is very close to a main oil gallery in the crank case and a longer bolt will crack the cases when tighten. finding a nut and bolt with a 14mm AF head will be the tricky bit. as for removing I would try heat on the captive nut.
