If you're planning to do long distances, make sure that your seat and backside can take it.
I find that a quick blast on an afternoon doesn't quite compare to 180miles+ day after day  :D

Misc / Open / Anybody from around Dublin...?
« on: May 15, 2023, 06:23:36 PM »
Booked for a few days around Ireland but am finding information regarding toll roads and charges a bit confusing!
We will be leaving Dublin, through the toll tunnel (where I am reasonably sure charges apply to motorcycles) , on to M50 and then the M4 towards the M6.
I see can't find anything definite regarding motorcycles so if anyone has a little local knowledge regarding toll charges and payment, I would be grateful.
Thanks

Looking for things to put on my Christmas list.
Has anyone used / got one of these blowing things? Are they both the same?
Any recommendations as they all look the same?
Thanks

CB350/400 / How to hot-wire instructions...
« on: August 16, 2022, 04:05:23 PM »
Does anyone remember a publication from the early Eighties called "On Your Bike"?
This was a weekly magazine that built up into "a step-by-step guide for every bike owner on how to maintain, repair and improve your bike" over several years probably...
During the recent nice weather, I got around to reading a couple of the issues that I had bought from the local charity shop and was surprised/amazed that it gave full instructions on how to hotwire a bike, including how to remove the seat in order to gain access to the relevant part. And then in an issue a couple of weeks later, it gave instructions on how to break steering locks "if you lost your keys"
No surprise that bikes get stolen.
PS Anyone recognise the bike model? I thought it was a 400/4 from the tank, but not from the side view - sorry about quality of photos  :)

CB350/400 / Strap location...?

Hi, just found this under my 400/4   :(   - first thought that it was the battery strap but that is still intact.
What other things are held in place with this sort of strap?
Thanks

Always had good results using Motul cleaner - may need a few applications depending on bad your jacket is.

Yes, that's the only way I can get the button back in. When I press it in again, it sticks!!

Hi,
Not sure if this is the right place to post, but I have inherited a Kappa top box but unfortunately the press release button is sticking and will not return.
I thought it would be an easy job to remove the lock and investigate but can find no way to remove it. There is a small retaining screw in the box which I have removed and allows the lock to wobble slightly but not detach. It looks as though it should slide down and out, but it fouls the release button...
Any suggestions would be welcome as this is driving me mad!
Couple of photos attached to try and describe problem a bit better.
Thanks

3/4 of them squeal just before you come to a stop.

Do you mean in the final couple of metres or so?
Mine does a good squeal on the slowdown before stopping!

Hi Julie,
Thanks for that - never like to have parts "left over" when replacing things, always think I've missed something important...

Apologies for reviving this post...but have a question.
I've been "suffering" for a while with the squeaky front brake and decided to change the pads. The new pads came with a big plastic washer? included in the kit, but there was no washer when I removed the old ones.
Should there be one? I have a replacement phenolic piston fitted - would this retract slightly less than the standard one as I couldn't fit the pads in with the new washer in place, so wasn't sure if it is spacer or something.

PS...still squealing...grrr  >:(
