CB350/400 / Frist ride out.
« on: September 20, 2013, 08:38:26 PM »
First ride out today, apart from a quick run up and down the lane we live on.  Seems great, goes well! - Pulls fine to 70mph officer and seems to have a bit more to give.  The bikes obviously not been used much recently, maybe not at all since a bit of a recommissioning, I've noticed new DID rims, new spokes to go with the new seat and mirrors that David Silvers put on it before sale, but the rest of the bike's fairly original (apart from new filters and plugs) Got it started again and went out for about 3 miles/10 mins, by which time the tickover had gone up to about 2500, and I was having issues slowing down so headed home and just wound the tickover screw back half a turn - I reckon something needed cleaning out and a good blast's done it the world of good.

A great start to CB400F ownership, now it's time for my good lady, the bikes real owner to take it for a spin! -  :)

CB350/400 / What colour HONDA on back of seat?

OK - discussion between my wife and me - we need to paint the Honda logo on the back of a newly recovered Parakeet Yellow F2 CB400F 1978, and need to know if it should be white or silver.

CB350/400 / 400/4 - starting the search!
« on: July 18, 2013, 07:21:28 PM »
I'm researching 400/4's as we've decided to swap my wife's unused ER6 for a classic honda - Is there a "before you buy watch out for" guide out there? - I'm picking up cam tensioners as a worry, what else?  - There are so few bikes for sale in the north we're probably not going to have a lot of choice, esp. as we're looking for a nice one (not pristine though!) that's under 3 grand.

Having said that, Sue's not sat on one yet - but she favours classic nakeds over everything modern..

Hi - We're based in Newton Aycliffe and have decided that as Sue's only done 600 miles in the last 2 years, we're selling up her ER6-F and going to buy a CB400/4.  That's the plan at the moment, but neither of us have even sat on one! - However we fancy a classic Sue can ride and won't loose value like the ER is.  And it's a good match for my 98 VFR anniversary in the garage! - (Anyone ever seen a 98 400 Superfour anniversary model in this country?).  Probably looking for a 77/78 bike, the ones that came in red or yellow, but got to sell the ER6 first.

Will keep you posted, but if you know of any good CB400/4's coming up soon less than 3 grand let me know! (or if you're really local and fancy letting Sue have a look at your bike, the kettle's on!
