CB500/550 / France here we come

Taking the 550K3 to France tomorrow for a few days with my brother on his ZX6R and my Uncle on his Triumph twin. Staying on the Somme and checking out the WW1 battlefields which should be good.

Weather forecast not good. Cool with rain a lot of the time....

Just serviced my K3 and put 10W-50 fully synthetic in it instead of 10W-40.

Big difference - engine quieter and gear shifts MUCH smoother.

If I take my hands off my bars on my 550K3 at between 40 - 50 mph the bars start wobbling until it wants to tank slap.

I have checked the wheel alignment, had both wheels rebalanced, checked and adjusted headstock bearings, checked tyre pressures but no difference.

My friend's identical K3 doesn't do it so it is a problem with mine.

Any ideas (apart from not letting go of the bars)

I'm in Hastings with my 550K3 (and a Yamaha R6 for the adrenilin kick). Two mates of mine also have another 550K3 and a 500/4 and we sometimes ride out together.

Just wondering if there's anyone else local to us.

I just got a L813142 Motobatt Sealed AGM Battery from stuff4bikes.co.uk

It's a gel battery for the CB750 and other bigger vintage jap bikes but just fits the 550 if you take off the yellow tray that comes fitted to it and remove the rubber bungs at the bottom of the battery box on the bike.

It has a much higher amperage and cold cranking power and spins the bike over like never before.
