CB750 / 064A slow jet
« on: April 25, 2018, 07:33:43 PM »
Hi,
Nearing the end of my build...yay!!!  Just a couple of things to finish off.  Posted previously regarding dyno testing to get the fuelling right...  general advice is no which I'm more than happy about so I'm dealing with the resetting the carbs... as ver a trial and error job.  Grebbo recommend a relatively local chap that can fine tune the feeling but I'd like to get it there or there abouts...

My problem seems to be the slow jets.  when opening up the throttle the revs can dip to the point of stalling.  The original size 40 jets are 28mm long, the only jets available these days seem to be 32mm in length so it's deeper into the fuel bowl.  The length is in the main body so if required I cut the bodies down to the original 28mm.  Ive increased to number 48's but no difference and the air jet does seem to have any impact at all.  I'm hoping I just need to up the size.  carbs have been refurbed, ultrasonically cleaned etc. etc.

My question is...  How will having a longer pilot jet "body" impact on the fuelling???  is it an issue.

I think he's quite well known in the cafe racer / custom community in the states / LA  and likes his British roots.  I guess he has a reputation to look after...

Thanks gents,

Roy, Trigger - very good point regarding full throttle through the range.  Unlikely I'll go through with it.

In the meantime Mark - I think I'll fettle the the main jet size and see how it runs / how the plug look.  Needle is on the middle setting, seems to tick over okay, no popping etc. but still have to balance the carbs.  You're right about the velocity stack in the stock air box...  Good ol' "Hondaman" gives an insight into the flow of air being patterned to prevent flat spots between the low, mid range and full throttle.  Unfortunately the bike came with Chinese pods which were split etc.  I swapped for "ramair" filters so no doubt will be dealing with at least one flat spot.

Cheers Gents

CB750 / Dyno testing

Hi

Nearing the end of my build and one of the last tasks is to sort the jetting out Anyone recommend a dyno tester who could sort the jetting out on my bike...  usual mods which I inherited - pod filters and 4 into 1 exhaust.  I'm in the Saddleworth / East Manchester

Done the research and seems like a mare to get spot on...

The bike is a CB750F Supersport and I'm in the Saddleworth / East Manchester

Cheers

CB750 / CB750F Seat - Laser printed??
« on: November 21, 2017, 08:27:27 PM »
Well now.  Thought I'd share this.  After working on a plug and fibreglass mould for a seat I managed to damage the mould when releasing.  I've given up trying to repair the damage (for now) and have been working with a pal on a CAD design based on dims from the mould to 3D print.  I've attached a "png" file - hope it works.  Got a few more details to add but I think it's looking pretty okay.

I'll post some photos of the "printed" final effort when complete and on the bike.

I've a feeling the only thing holding up things now are the electrics!!!

Hi…  Trying to find replacement hex head screws in place of the OE cross head that fix the "stator comp" in place.
Any ideas where I can purchase them from???
Cheers...

I love the idea of moving the electrics, battery etc. under the seat to open the frame up…  But I hear the gel batteries are prone to fail and even set on fire.  I'll may be have a go at moving the ignition switch to under the tank, one step at a time!

"Knott" does some nice bike with loads of bespoke gear - bit ott but I like them.

I'm caffing a CB750 at the moment, but I think the 350's and 400's look cracking as well, in fact the whole CB family look great!

Best of luck
