Haven't actually sprayed the cases yet, just the barrels and as yet there just air dried. Is the paint your using the Simonize Silver or the Alluminum finish??

Must admit looks nicer in the frame than the engine sat alone on the bench.  On scrolling through the parts list on Dave Silver site, they actually sells this Autotek paint in Silver/grey??

Interesting!!  I may just get a can and give it a go, maybe on the cambox breather cover, something easy to strip the paint off should it look crap or is affected by a few drops of petrol!! Unless anybody comes up with a bad experience with this paint.

Sorry, another paint question. Anyone on this forum used AutoTek sliver/grey VHT engine paint for their crank cases. Tried the Simoniz aluminum VHT on the barrels and it seems a bit to bright for my liking.

I think it's going to take me that long to get it finished on a pension, used up my £200 heating allowance already, but as luck has it the wife starts drawing her pension next year, happy days. Thanks Julie

CB500/550 / Valve guides

Are there any recommended manufacturer/sellers of after market valve guides for 500's, or does one bite the bullet and try and purchase the genuine items ££££££££££££££ Plus any other recommencement for guide replacements and seat cutting. I'm thinking SEP at Kegworth, they've done two suzuki cranks for me in the passed that were all good.

I've just been reading about fitting Cb125s piston rings as a replacement for cb500 unobtainable rings. The rings fitted to my bike have the three piece oil ring, so which of the Cb125' s (year/model) also fit this type of rings?? Assuming this is the case!!

Tricks & Tips / Internet Luddites.
« on: October 24, 2021, 08:05:05 PM »
This is a "tip" for all us trusting, old internet Luddites. I posted a request on the " Honda classic" facebook site for the elusive gearbox bearing for my 500. To my surprise I got half a dozen replies from people that had them. All had unusual names and posted very brief comment. On checking their profiles, some had only just joined the site that day and others had friends in every country in the world and some had no profile at all. So a rat was smelt, even by an old fart like myself. Then one of the site administrators went through the lot and labelled them all as scammers. So being use't to all the genuine replies on this forum does not carry over to other sites. So all you trusting oldie be very aware when using other means to search for parts. Your never to old to learn!!!!!!!!!!
