SOHC Singles & Twins / Re: Honda cb360 wheel rims

It seems fairly common that parts from retailers do not always list all variants of makes & models that they fit.
I would message the supplier & ask them to double check they will fit your 360.
Might just be that they are cosmetically different but will fit.

Doesn't work like that for the Hondaman system Ted, there are 2 other wires you need to jump into the blue and yellow wires, I'll see if I can find the wiring diagram and let you know.

I read the post that he was not initially fitting the Hondaman system just running it on points first the when all is good fitting the Hondaman system.
Maybe I misread the intention - I think that's Roo

FWIW

I believe convention is left coil (Blue wire) is for cylinders 1 & 4.
Right coil (Yellow wire) is for cylinders 2 & 3.

Looking at the contact breaker plate  left  side points are for cylinders 1 & 4 (wire is Blue).
Looking at the contact breaker plate right side points are for cylinders 2 & 3 (wire is yellow).

The basket handles are heated in the winter so should be ideal for  Bear heist.

Having to remove the carbs is as we know here not a quick & easy task not sure on your model - on the 400 its a wrestling match just getting the air intake chamber back in place.

Pleased to read you have a result & sorted the issue.

That looks good John. Bikers being welcomed with cakes, and not despised, things are improving  :D

Might be linked to the age demographics - or not many Mods to fight with.🤔🤔🤔

Can't imagine how a dowel gets  broken - is the remnant in both halves or just the engine casing?
As it is part of centering the alternator I think it's important to find a fix.

Project Board / Re: 30 years of storage later, the project begins.

That's a fair bit of work you have done there. I empathise with spending time looking for parts. My solution took time I spent a couple of days doing an inventory of all my plastic baskets that contain my various 500 parts. I lettered the baskets with a pen starting with A currently my highest is L. Where bulky parts are elsewhere I record what's in the Garage Loft, my bedroom wardrobe (clocks) my office floor etc.
A brief description of the contents of a box is then listed on a spreadsheet. New parts are currently stored in a cardboard box with contents listed. I rarely print off a boxes contents I have a PC in my garage office so easy enough to update or check what's where. My baskets are stored on shelves so even if I put one back on the wrong shelf the lettering is still there.

I also have a work log where I record what I have done and flag up in red things that need torquing up with desired settings. As this is a hobby I have the time to be meticulous with written records & photos. Like most filing systems once it's in place really easy to maintain.
So Ken I guess it's a personal  choice in the end - just think of all the saved time you could spend doing one more buff up instead of looking for parts. My search for a brake return spring that I never actually had was the catalyst for my orgainisational phase.👍👍👍

As you are probably aware when petrol evaporates in the fuel system it leaves behind a residue not unlike a thin film of plastic/gunk that can block jets or make float valves stick.
Even when drained the floats can stick with a fully extended float needle causing initial flooding as the float can become temporarily trapped/stuck.

Sometimes if you switch off the fuel after the carbs have started to flood shaking the bike sideways or a gentle tap of the carb bowls can resolve the flooding so when you turn  the fuel back on all is well. The longer the bike has stood unused the less likely it is that the problem will fix itself as jets block up.

I use Wynns Dry fuel in the tank to avoid water separation over winter plus I use SUL fuel. I have successfully used Octane Reviver to use of old petrol in fuel injected cars - even injector cleaner might work to unstick a light gumming up of the needle valve.

Oddly enough my old Yamaha XJ900 never flooded after standing over the winter - I always used Wynns Dry Fuel after I had to replace the tank due to pin holing.

Another member here posted a picture on an early post of mine so I bought one. Great bit of kit.

The listing photo is a bit misleading as it shows a bike with both wheels off the ground - that looks iffy to me - I strap the rear wheel down whilst on the center stand then use the scissor jack.

Had you drained the carbs prior to winter storage?
