I think the parts were not clean and also maybe the temperature was a bit low. To get bright zinc coating the passivate, electroplate solution and water for rinsing really effect the finish. As does a touch of brightener in the fluid you plate in, the results will be far better and shiney. Ash is yer man but your bits should be as  shiney as the enclosed….. Actually if you can lock the front with a single disc, (which I know you can), it begs the question the benefit of fitting a double disc setup, or am I missing the point?

Cos twin discs look ‘the shizzle’ and balance the front end a bit in terms of looks IMO. Plus it’s more bling to dazzle the chicks outside the all girls school bus stop when you rumble by looking all macho  Each to their own. I disconnected the abs on the VFR for a while a few years back and the brakes were no where near as good but like I say, each to their own and soon rigged it all back up again and to be fair, EBC discs, carbon Lorraine sintered pads, braided lines and better levers, they bloody should be  Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I spent some time years ago as an optical tech for Boots and whilst there I used all rhe myriad of tools they have for adjusting, making and repairing spec fr3ames. All or most of the 'plier type' tools all had replacable nylon jaws and suited all sorts of jobs the we now undertake for carb twiddling and faffing about with these old bikes. Reading this just jogged my memory so it might be worth looking in brochures for optical supplies and technical support0 for 'that special tool' that you can never find....maybe. If I remember rightly, to replace sets wasnt dear and I found that a bit surprising in the optics trade.
Maybe worth a google search....?.

Brought some back for another chap in the village last time out, its no different to a can of deodorant and they've never had a grumble about those. If it gets sent over via air freight in the post its still flown with no issues so never had a problem but |I hear you mate.
