I agree with Nurse Julie  - I get around 130 without going to reserve, including indicated 65mph cruising

« on: June 17, 2016, 07:27:16 PM »
I have these pipes fitted and think it would be normal for them to turn a bit brown near the cylinders. They are not double skinned like the original, a rub with autosolve should clean them quite easily Mine are too new to really comment on how much they would do this, perhaps Chris or someone else who has them on long term could comment. Looking at your bike it seems to be concentrated on one pipe, did you clean the others? If not it could be that particular pipe is not as resistant as the rest or the cylinder is running hotter than the other three.

The problem is that the whole downpipe is "discoloured" - from the head all the way to the collector box which is apparently normal for stainless steel
The other three pipes are from an aftermarket replacement set bought approx 3 years ago - the outside pipe was recently damaged and replaced and this is the one that is made from stainless steel.I would be very disappointed if I had purchased a full set and they all went this way...

CB350/400 / Motad Replacement Downpipe
« on: May 19, 2016, 07:39:21 PM »
I've recently fitted a replacement downpipe supplied by Motad to cylinder 4. After approx 400 miles, the pipe has taken on a brown tinge and there is mottling to the top of the pipe.

After contacting Motad, they have told me that is unavoidable due to the new pipe being stainless steel and the older replacement downpipes are mild steel.

Has anyone else had this problem? If this is a known "feature" of their pipes, I would advise anyone thinking about fitting them to bear this in mind as it completely ruins the look of pipework.

CB350/400 / Silencer Stopper...
« on: March 29, 2016, 07:52:34 PM »
Hi,
Can someone tell me if there should be some sort of stopper fitted to the underside of the silencer?  (maybe to stop the centre stand fouling it?).  There is a slot in a bracket on mine which I think something should fit in. If there is something messing, any ideas of sizes or where I can get one?
Thanks

I know there has been discussions on this somewhere, but I can't find the threads!
Am I right in thinking that Toyota 8A1 is the nearest match to Varnish Blue?
Cheers

Just received silencer from Brituro...quality is looking fine. Joe is an easy person to deal with and will give a 10% discount if you mention that you are a forum member.

CB350/400 / Replacement silencer

Hi,
I'm looking for a replacement silencer for my 400 and Feked.com  came up.
It appears the same as the one that DSS sells and  I was wondering if anyone has bought this and could give me their opinion of the quality?
Thanks

CB350/400 / Headlight retaining bolts
« on: August 30, 2015, 02:54:46 PM »
Hi, this is probably a daft question. I've just got round to removing my tax disk holder which was held on via the side reflector/ headlight bolt. When trying to screw the bolt back in, it just pushes straight into the headlight shell. Is it possible that  I might have  disturbed a retaining nut in the  shell?
Thanks
