Just thought I post this pic of a nice customised CB750 I saw at Bikenite in Pershore tonight.

Anyone's on here?
-
That's very nice and well put together 8), cheers Mick.
-
What is the purpose of the disks around the front hub? Are they just for looks? That's a very clean bike.
-
Back in the Trito days the "Bacon Slicers" were supposed to help keep the brake drum cooler
-
Looks good, does the rear brake arm angle look extreme? :-\
-
looks good, love the 2LS front brake,or is it double sided?
didn't make it last night,I went for a run around Hay-on-wye, Builth Wells,Rhyader to Kington and home,
a fun 100 miles -)))
hope to make next week at Twinning, near Tewkesbury,
-
Great looking bike sort of early Norton style
Pete

Yep, taken a Japaneses bike and tried to make it look British ;D What is the point?
-
I suppose its because the whole cafe scene was a British thing back in the day
-
It's probably faster, more reliable and leaks less oil ;).
-
Probably? Most Defiantly!
-
I quite like the look but I hate those headlamp peaks, what the hell are they for, to stop enemy planes seeing you at night ?

LYNX....That's my Bike mate, it was our first run out this year.
It is an amalgamation of some of my old bikes and bits.
Headlamp peak, bacon slicers and a lack of shiny paint, it's a taste thing, most of it's even functional.
The engine is basically now race spec (other than keeping the alternator / charging system) and she handles, stops and goes like #@%$.
Oh and the front brake is a GT750J 4TLS.
Hope to chat at Twyning

Hi MCR, Congratulation on it's first trip out. Successful? It was certainly getting a lot of attention. Nice prime spot too ;). Did you see my 400? Almost opposite your's but between two cars ::). Nice avatar too!
-
Hi mate,
Yes a good first trip, just need to downsize the main jets to cope with Weseco's.
And yes I did see and drool over your 400-4, looks fresh out the crate, a credit to your many hours in the man cave.
As to the negative post about the 60,s look, "what's the point"?.....if that was a serious question, there is no real point other than a homage to the original cafe racers and a slap in the face to the American influence of pretty paint and bling. I didn't think this site was for the purists!
Hope to speak at Twyning, you know some of the BSB boys are attending.
-
Yeah I should be able to make that OK. Cheers.
If anyone else fancies it, it's a postcode Gl20 6DF. Officially from 19:00 but people arrive any time from 18:00.

It's a cracking looking bike, I love the retro look, apart from the headlamp peak ;) BTW what are they for ?
-
Just for show aren't they? headlight peaks ;)
-
I think they look quite cool. American origin I think.

They were devised in the olden days when people used to ride motorcycles in the dark , it seems incredible to us now but at one time your average Joe would use his motorcycle as a means of everyday (and night) transport, under those circumstances the peak was actually quite useful in keeping headlight glare out of the riders eyes, but now of course they are indeed just for show.....motorcycling?, in the dark?, no thanks.........I've got a car!.

Spot on (pardon the pun) they were to help give beam direction in old version lamps.
They're not of any real use now, accept to give a certain 'Marmite' appeal, personally I like Marmite.
I've modified and fitted a P700 Tri-Bar headlamp, the peak gives a crescent effect that actually spreads the beam...may stick with it, juries out.

Bugger! I can't make the meet tomorrow night. I have to baby sit :'(.
-
Well, I like it! its all a matter of taste I suppose. but I think the lines are great, and the engine looks so much bigger somehow?
especialy if you do compair with the likes of the Nortons, Triumphs, BSAs etc cafe style. Nice work.

its grey, windy, and forecast rain,so I am giving tonight a miss,
for those that go,I hope you have fun,and it doesn't rain

About the style of bike, I don't think you really know why you like a certain type either standard or modified as it just seems to happen. I like looking at anything that has good work on it as it's good to see all sorts of variation and sometimes people just do something that looks way better than original.
For me, the candy colours of these 750/500s (and for that matter all the Jap bikes of that era, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha) are so strong that I prefer those rather than the classic cafe era of black and chrome/ally. That doesn't diminish others hard work, I just like the candys that's all.
