Kawasaki's "Lightbulb" moment, when they realized not everybody wanted plastic covered rocket ships, they actually liked a bike that looked like a bike!

I think they were the last good looking bikes that the Japanese made, but that is just my opinion. I know there will be many that disagree, reaches for Flak Jacket and Steel Helmet ;)

I really liked the D1 model with the wire wheels...

Yes nice looking "real" bike. Makes you feel old realising they are 25 years old and launched at the time to bring back the "Z" styling which itself was old then! If you know what I mean :-\

I like the idea of spoked wheels on a Zephyr but I never liked the spoked wheels that Kawasaki used, they should have used a more traditional looking style. I do like the paint jobs on D1's though, but if you gotta have a C1 then its gotta be red! Red bikes look fast even when they are stood still  ;D

Every thing red is faster----that's why they paint Fire engines red

Had a c3 with D1 paint set, and a shark exhaust fitted with  an exhaust craft harris style muffler.

True.   Modern bikes all look the same to me, without the decals I wouldn't know what they are.

BTW,  thinking of painting my van red for that all-important extra mph.

Nice Zephyr Kevski 8).....Mike, red cars and vans are only faster if they have the "Starsky & Hutch" white stripe. ;)

The zephyr tanks are notorious for rotting out, modern petrol compounds it, I have used stabilisers for years, and drain tanks completely twice yearly.

Definitely an opening here for someone to make exact replica tanks in ally or stainless! I'm really surprised that someone hasn't tested the market doing one for 400/4 or 750/4 K models.

Someone on the zephyr forum has started making composite tanks, but to set up a production line to make ally or stainless would cost a fortune in tooling, thus making the tanks prohibitively expensive for most.
