Hello
Does anyone know where I can get a clutch switch diode from , I live in the UK and I’ve got a 1978 CB750K .
I’ve got a green and red wire in the headlight which I think need a diode .I’ve managed to find a new clutch switch on eBay but looking at the diagram and reading the forums I think I need a diode to connect the two .
Please let me know if I’m wrong as I’m very new to this !

I think the diode is located under your left side panel on a 78. It will be at the bottom and the wires should be light green with red and dark green with red.

Thanks Trigger, in that case I’ve got the Diode, do I just connect the green and red wire in the headlight direct to the clutch switch then ?

Yep, the switch connects in the head light. Don't know how the hell you test these diodes to see if they work or not.
From memory, the switch should have two wires

If it’s like any other diode with a multi meter you will get a reading one way and open circuit the other.
Open circuit both ways bin, short circuit both ways bin ;D

Just dug a original switch out, two wires. Green and a Green with red.

Also check the clutch switch (as image) with a continuity tester, they can stick over time.

Before wasting money on a diode, check with a meter. If no meter check with the battery and a bulb. A working diode will only conduct in one direction.

Sorry to high jack the thread! On my CR rep I'm nearly finished, I've used a new K6 loom as a basis for the CR's loom (as all the electrical bits have been re-located to the seat hump area). The CR will have all fully functioning lights (idiot lights in digital speedo) etc. and has new K2 switch gear which doesn't have the clutch switch or the 'starter motor safety switch' (on reflection shouldmhave bought K2 loom).
Question - do I just connnect the wires from nuetral and clutch input wires that woulld ordinarily go to the 'starter motor switch' (term used on online wiring diagram - diode?)

In theory if you just connect the two loom wires in the headlamp shell that should go to the switch together all should work as the system is an EITHER neutral light on OR lever pulled to start

This is probably a dumb question , so apologies in advance, I’m trying to replace the clutch switch. On my clutch lever there is a bit of plastic sticking out where I’m guessing the old one broke off , how do I get this out . I can see a small hole on bottom of clutch lever as per photo I’ve tried this but no luck .Do I just use more force and pull old bit of plastic out ?

You have to take the clutch lever off the bike, then it just pushes out. Fit the new one from the lever side by threading the wires through then pulling gently until the switch positions itself in the recess.

Thanks Brian - just to confirm - I havn't got a clutch switch or the diode. So the 2 way connector that goes to the 'starter motor switch' (term used on online wiring diagram – is this the diode?), just leave un-connected?

If there is no clutch switch or plug-in diode connected to the K6 loom 2-way connector, you will also need to ground the DARK GREEN/RED wire . (+ diode) No wires connected to the LT GREEN/RED (- diode)
As image, you could use a 2-way male connector/6mm lead and attach to the frame terminal. The starter & neutral circuits will operate as earlier version bikes.

Thanks Alan - much appreciated. As I said, should have bought a simpler K2 loom on reflection. I am now trying to fault find a modified new K6 loom as all electrics are under seat hump/shorai lithium battery, mated to Electrex narrow alternator (that doesn't come with instructions!), combined rec/reg,boyer high output coil ignition, combined LED rear light/indicators, bi-xeon mini headlight and digital speedo/idiot light thingy,
