Title: Odd sounding number 1 exhaust
Post by: paulbaker1954 on April 18, 2018, 06:57:03 PM
Hi
My number 1 exhaust is making not the usual sound after the winter lay up
It sounds a bit like a boom boom noise and if you hold your hand over the end of the pipe it feels as if the pressure is higher than the othe 3 cylinders

Not sure if I need to worry as the bike runs fine other than that and pulls well through rev range just this odd noise at tick over

Any ideas ?

I guess I could post a vid on you tube if needed but not at home at the mo

Internal baffling breaking up or rusted loose? Less baffling equals less restrictive path for exhaust gases, therefore would have more pressure at tail end.

Had a rattle from the inner down pipe that rusted at the top once. Took yonks to find that problem ;)

Interesting but these are only 2 year old CMSNL pipes

The original Honda made ones they came with new, some were having to be replaced under warranty in less than 6 months as they rotted so quickly, so don't ever assume that a fairly new or even brand new part cannot be at fault!

Dumb ? but is there a way to check/test these DS/CMS Pipes as I don’t think the baffles are removable
