Hi guys!
I did a complete disaster with the Kreem liner. It’s my first motorbikes abd I am a newbie... please be patient with me!
There are loads of conversation about it on internet but I want to ask you an advice on this specific case. I basically didn’t drain the excess completely out as the petcok filter remained inside.
My tank on one side now look like in the picture.
I would like to ask you if once completely dried there’s no risk for my tank or I think would be better to remove the liner completely with acetone?
Thanks in advance

Liners do not work in my book, they always fail and block the carbs ;)

Thnks Trigger. I’ve been given a wrong advice. So you suggest to take it out with acetone? Can I fill the tank with fuel after I’ve drained the acetone and Kreem out? I am worried about the rust as well.

I bought a tank that had been badly dealed with POR15. The internal filter was bunged up and the liner had started to peel away, it had been that badly done.
Frost restorations who are an agent for POR15 suggested I use POR Strip C225, which is basically an industrial strength paint stripper. I would think Acetone will work as well, but never tried it.

Thanks Bill. Much appreciated. For 14L tank can you advise on the quantity of POR C225?

I picked up a litre of the C225 paint stripper .... and it's potent stuff!
It's like the good old days where splashes burn your skin, and paint just comes off. I am using it to remove the old chipped and flaky engine paint on my F2 and it works. Which modern Nitromors does not. I would think a 1 litre can (well...just under...it's a US quart ) should be plenty.
Just be careful....if you get it on the paint...it will strip that too.

The correct way to do any tank is, strip any sealer, de rust, test for any leaks and re paint. If any leaks are found, cut back to clean metal and braze to repair, re test for leaks and paint ;)

Thanks to you all guys. I would try the C225 paint stripper. A liter in the tank and shake it? How do I remove it then? Water? I am really worried about the quick rust that could be formed..

What was/is the normal finish for the inside of petrol tanks? Bill W.

Bare metal.

My CL450 tank is bare metal inside, as it came out of the acid bath before Menno painted it.
As it will be a while before the bike is ready for use, should I store it with petrol, or something else in it? I’m worried about rust.

I used a dollop of old 2 stroke oil in mine. I figured it should keep surface rust at bay and at least burn. Might be a smokey start up when the time comes.....

I used Redex kept the rust away, rinsed it out before use and any left just burns away :D
