Now I've seen it all! Should I buy this tank? Would only need a bike to go with it! ;)

Another $100 for a bike in similar condition and you are good to go!

They can keep it, I wouldnt pay that for a go on his bike, never mind a bit of scrap like that ;D!

I thought it was from those importers in Stoke-on-Trent. And usually for £200.

Surely not serious about riding Freddie's bike Roo. Love that look and even had a bash myself back in the day? Raw grunt, elastic frame and no brakes!!

Nevver did it for me sadly, I just didnt loike the look of the thing. I had a clapped out Z1000 as one of my first bikes, had it parked up ouyside the test centre in Harrogate. You should have seen their faces when I ripped off on that after my test. That felt like it was hinged in the middle and had appauling brakes when they were apparent ;D. Always reminded me of watching spencer on his barge. Loved the engineering but hated the looks.
The irony is is that I have a 750 engine on the shed in a billion bits I bought as a job lot for £50 ;D ;D ;D, just sold the forks to Bristol Badger for his chop. One less bit of clutter no idea why I bought it, it'll never get done but its something to aspire to do .........eventually;D

That tank made me laugh! ;D

The scary thing is that someone will buy it.

Surely a wind-up? I was wondering how your going to get it sent up to Orkney without it getting damaged.🤭🤭

Billy Big Bollox.
My 17 year old Grandson had an 'event' on his 125 Yamaha when a Woman pulled out in front of him when he was a Learner. His bike was 'fixable' and his other Grandad sorted out the minor dent in the Tank for him.
Grandson took great delight in bragging how his bollox were black and blue when they had smacked the Tank.
I sent him this photo of my Bonneville Tank and told him that 'He was just a ferking lightweight' !
I didn't tell him the Tank was like that when I bought the bike....and let him think I'd been riding it when the damage was done !
Age and cunning will always overcome youth and enthusiasm !

You won't like this then Roo - bought a job lot of three bikes - 750/900/1100 DOHC's several years ago and built a Spencer Replica with Laverda forks/later Honda wheels and brakes (because they were all with the job lot). Sold it to fund finishing my 750k2

Always had a soft spot for the CB900F, my fav was the F2 I think, the one with the reversed gold comstars. Had a Police Interceptor car chase me on one, Lotus Sunbeam, they were rather miffed when I left them for dead, when they did catch me later they threw me against a wall (they only caught me because I was wearing my Honda overalls and they figured out where I must work) Got my hat nailed on for that little chase but TBH it wasn't my fault, I was doing 30 in a 30 zone and they were so close behind me I could hear their tappets knocking, I sped up then slowed down again when they were well behind, sure enough, I could hear tappets again, they were approx 3 inches off the back of the bike when I looked back, car was completely unmarked so I thought I was in danger, they were driving with the white line going between driver and passenger, I still remember thinking "Sod this, I'm outa here". They were very very annoyed with me as I'm sure they thought nothing could lose them.

That's a very good looking bike Phil, always thought one of Honda's best in styling, and a great era of Freddie racing too.
Unusual connection with Lotus Ken. I was in one at Manx rally as support car (couple of spare wheels, Jack, fuel etc) with the driver unfamiliar with the car, they have a "race" pattern ZF gearbox with reverse where 1st is usually then 1st where second would be. The amount of times we pulled away backwards :o because he kept forgetting was making me nervous, approaches to tight corners too :)
It went like the clappers though, a pretty potent car but no match in acceleration for decent bikes.

That gear shift pattern reminded me of my old Renault Dauphine - IIRC it was a 4 speed H pattern but only a 3 speed floor shift gearbox so the usual position for 1st gear was reverse!
Just as I got used to the layout I rolled it end over end on a country lane - my fault I was late for work driving too fast when my nearside wheel struck a land drain slot - the lessons of youth eh....

My dads first car was a Renault Dauphine in 1964 Ted - Red (1962 ish) if I remember. We used to play rally car drivers (pretend as I was only 9!). Funny enough, I can't remember the gear change pattern

My dad had a Renault Dauphine too! It would have been about 1964.
Although I was only six, I remember that he hated it. I remember the white HA Viva that he bought soon after - he stuck with Vauxhall for many years after that.

Drove a Scania 17 tonner for a while that had 9th and 10th gear changed round. 9th went back and 10th went forward when all the rest were in the standard position. Caught me out for ages.

The Dauphine was hopeless on corners - the back end would hop when pushed too far on a bend,
The HA Viva was a great leap forwards of the era in so many areas - ride - performance - braking. I thought it could not be bettered until the HB came along - the HC was a bit of a damp squib.

We never had a car. My Dad would do 45 miles a day on 49cc. I was the family transport when I got a bigger bike at 17. Used to cart them around, on at at time of course and then there was the Reliant.........

He had an HB too. By the time the HC came along he’d gone to the dark side (Mazda)
My sister’s (first) fiancé was a Firenza guy but topped by my best man Paul who had a Magnum 2300.
