Title: New Member from Aberdeen
Post by: Aberdonian James on July 09, 2011, 06:19:14 PM
Hi All
Just joined this Forum as I've acquired a "Basket Case" CB750. Exactly what model is open to argument. According to the V5 it was first registered on 1 May 1977 and is yellow. The Frame No. is CB750F - 1035981 and the Engine No. is CB750E - 2558431. According the David Silver Spares helpful "Identify My Model" service it's CB750F1 SOHC 1976/77 model.
So far I've drained the oil (which was all in the sump) and confirmed that the starter motor actually turns the engine over. My plan is to get the engine running simply to see if it requires anything major done and then to strip the bike completely and to restore it to as near original condition as possible.
My first love is Classic British bikes and I've just finished restoring a 1969 Triumph Trophy TR6 which is my regular ride at the moment.
This Honda is only the third I've ever owned. The first was a Honda 50 when I was 16 (a very long time ago). Then I had a ST1100 Pan European that I did many miles on. My longest ride was from here in Aberdeen to Florence, Italy. The following year I took it to Austria with my wife on the back.
I'll be avidly scanning this forum for information about my bike but to start I'd like some advice on where to obtain a Workshop Manual and Parts Book. I've so far got the Haynes Manual and have a Clymer manual on order.
All help/advice welcomed.
James

Hi James, the F1 is a nice bike, owned mine since new in 76, spares aren't as common as for the K's but CSM, David Silvers and eBay sorted out all my needs.

Cheers

My room-mate at Uni had a yellow F1 - it was a great bike.
