I'm a newbie too, really helpful and freindly peeps on here, looking forward to the summer myself on my 400/4

As your prize you get first dibs at identifying any other parts I come across  :)

Thanks for all the replies, it does work as a headlamp bowl bolt and the reflectors fit in the end. Quite a relief as I was beginning to have a horrible feeling that they lived deep inside the engine that I've already started to rebuild!!

Thanks Trigger, that's a great help. I've attached some more pics of the bolt that is threaded. [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

The brake pipe is complete, the bolt is also threaded at the hex end/

I'm down to the last few parts I can't identify where they go! Picture 1 is a small painted bracket that I have 1 off, picture 2 is a bolt with a hole drilled through the middle that I have 2 off and picture 3 is a small curved item with a tapped hole in the centre of it that I have 4 off. Silly bits but probably vital!! [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

No it's the wrong way round, well done you passed the test!!

Actually it's a schoolboy error on my part and doesn't bode well for the rest of the job does it.  :o

Thanks for all the replies. I've put most of the cycle parts together with no drama, new head bearings, fork seals and swinging arm bushes. I've also rebuilt the front caliper and master cylinder. Most parts are identified and I've yet to find anything missing (famous last words!). Next step is the engine........

Hi, I've recently purchased a 400/4 completely in bits! Everything has been rechromed/repainted/restored, it literally needs building from scratch.Pictures attached. [ Guests cannot view attachments ] I own some other bikes (Suzukis I'm afraid), a GS750, GT250 and TS185 all of which have been restored but this is my first Honda. I'm still working out where all the bits go and will certainly be asking a lot of daft questions along the way, I'm from South Lincolnshire by the way.
