Misc / Open / Re: Chrome plater recommendations

I have just used Ashford Chroming located in Crayford S.E. London after my chromer who I have used for 30+ years lost his environmenal licence (unless he was willing to pay thousands for new treatment tanks). Ashford Chroming were absolutely brilliant. The quality of their work is beyond excellent as are their timescales, I got all my stuff back within a month.
They are however expensive but you get what you pay for with chrome. They didn't like the repair on my rear mudguard, didn't think I'd smoothed it down enough (I'd spent hours on it!) so they tweaked it in their in-house panel beating shop.

Yes, Peter Horton, Kent 400, will sort that out.

isn't it caused by weakened magnets.  All my old gauges do this, especially on my Land Rover.

As I approach 20mph and onto 30mph my speedo starts wagging within about a 5mph field, enough to cost a lot of money in London today. What might be wrong, is this something Gauge Restorers could fix?  :-\

I have filed down the shoes to enable a washer to be fitted under the split pin.

On closer examination of the brake shoes alloy plate there were a couple of what looked like rub marks on the alloy shoes on the outer edges. This was just on the one shoe. I have done some very light filing of the edge  it has reduced the binding substantially when the axel is tightened up.

I am collecting a flap wheel today as well - Bryan -who sells Vesrah brake shoes in the UK?

My 550 had the same problem, new switch sorted it.
Usually it's just the switch. Sooner or later they all need replacement.

Any recommendations for a chrome plater, preferably in the south.

My 550 K0 headlight brackets need doing, so far I’ve been quoted at one place £80 for the pair and £90 each at another place.
