Does anybody have an easy set of instructions for testing a Boyer Bransden Digital Ignition system fitted to a 350F. I appear to have a weak spark and its suffering the plug wetting problems that result in difficult starting and cylinders dropping out. I replaced the plugs today and it appears slightly better indicating the ignition is the problem.
It is the kit with Boyers own micro coils. The plug caps are new 5000ohm resister type, all cables are crimped and soldered. It has 4 sparks all the time, they just don't seem to be very bright. Am wondering if I missed a step during installation? Do the coils require earthing maybe?

I have used BB for ages.
on thing to check is the 2 screw terminal on the stator/coil plate,if those are loose ,it causes problems,

Coils don't need earthing, you can always phone them they are generally very good, i have used boyer's on most of my bikes in the last 20+ years and never had a problem, i used to live a couple of miles from them and i just used to go there and buy direct, it's a very small business and they are always happy to help.

Someone with more knowledge than me may be able to answer this....... The plug caps recommended for the Boyer are NGK 5000ohm resister, which I have fitted. The plugs I have are NGK DR8ESL (as sold by DS), these have a built in resister which will take the ohms too high. Can I safely fit plugs like the older D8ES that has no resister. Surely getting the resistance back to 5000ohms will increase the spark intensity.

Yes you will be able to use plugs without the resistor.

Had a reply back from Boyer Bransden on this issue, that may be of interest to anyone using a Boyer Bransden system......... The total resistance on each plug lead must be no more than 5000ohms............ That means if you have the plug caps with built in 5k resister a non resister spark plug MUST be used. As the standard plugs sold by DS are NGK DR8ES-L these will be no good as they also have an internal resister of 5000ohms. The correct plug would be D8EA..............No wonder I have a dim spark as the total resistance is running at 10,000ohms way outside the specification for Boyer Bransden Micro Digital systems............Will report back when the new plugs arrive and I get a weather break to give the bike a test run........Thanks for all the replies. 8)

D8EA's were recommended for my 400/4 by a main Honda agents in 1985 when I fitted my first BB system
