CB750 / Took my USA K8 out on Sunday
« on: February 25, 2019, 08:30:49 PM »
Dusted the cobwebs off after winter and brought him out the garage. Did some checks pulled sidecovers off and the tabs broke off in the grommets. Aargh. Attempted to glue and wasn't successful. Anyway gaffa tape and cable ties got them temp secured for the trip. Started up took a few mins to warm up then off I trotted after a quick wash in the sunshine. Back brake is really squealy and sharp after a wash! Bike is probably used to route 66 in America but the nearest I could find near me is the new handforth bypass near Manchester Airport. Fresh shell Bramhall vpower petrol can't believe how much that tank holds. Loved the comfy ride after pulling my 1980s xt600 kickstart only thumper and my 1970s dt175mx stroker out the day before. One has to go but every time I ride one it has to stay. I know its no k0 but it gets his appreciation from other bikers. Here he is

Thank you. When I got the bike all jets were blocked with brown crud and the idle screw was wound in fully. I've had tank and carbs cleaned from the1990s petrol which took 2 weeks so adjustments are required I expect.

My 78 k8 takes about 6 mins to settle itself down before its rideable.is that normal? The idle speed has to be lowered as its idling at 2500 rpm when it's hot. Any ideas?

My k8 does it. My 78 dt175mx does it. My 87 XT600 doesn't.
They all work OK though

I don't want a pattern peg.need the American Walmart one.!
Seriously I found I have to remove the grommet rotate my knob120 degrees anticlockwise holding the base of the plastic housing. Am going to tighten my nut as it appears to be spinning. Only rotates on full choke nothing in between
