Title: 400/4 Oil Filter
Post by: Golfcarmad on February 26, 2019, 03:47:05 PM
Nearly there with complete rebuild.
In putting oil filter etc back on,Haynes shows a Metal spacer between end of filter and engine.
I do not have this, nor does there sem to be room.
Anyone comment/advise please?

Also, had to change swinging arm from F2 to F1,cut off footrests, when I put back wheel on-right hand side spacer (twice length of left hand) pushes the swinging arm out a little too much for my liking.Could be my eyes!! Again, anyone had similar issue please?
Thanks n regards
Paul

The spacer you refer to is a shim/washer that is around 1mm thick, often you'll find it stuck to the old filter (if you've slung the old filter you'll need to get another one!) It basically forms a seat for the spring that fits on the filter bolt between the filter housing and the filter. I certainly wouldn't run an engine without it.

The big spacer is for the 350 four or are you trying to fit a 350 four oil housing to a 400 four  ;)
