CB750 / Battery not charging

This is a simple one for all you highly tuned mechanical types.. but first off I have something to own up to.

I made the mistake of thinking because my bike was built in 1976, that made it a K6. Apparently, according to some sharp-eyed fella on Ebay it's a CB750F.

Anyhow, the battery ain't retaining a charge.... any clues ?

Thanks for any assistance, much appreciated

OK, thanks guys (and gals - just in case!;) - pretty conclusive, they're purely aesthetic!

Will keep the Air Box on and live with it ... cheers all!

CB750 / CB750 K6 - Air Filters

Hello all, getting excited about Christmas ???

So - I like the look of the 4 separate air filters people put on their bikes - the chromed ones - as opposed to the standard air box BUT my mechanic (top bloke in Kings Cross, London) reckons that it's not a good idea - they get wet, they are a pain to tune etc..... what do you all think ???

Thanks

It looks like the lock/plunger unit is still on the frame but the seat hinges are definitely gone.. however - I did just find this on Ebay, I've just asked the seller if it has the hinge assembly with it.. thanks for your reply, Hairy :-)

CB750 / CB750 Cafe Racer seat

Hello all,

I'm thinking of putting the following seat from Ebay on my bike, pictured.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-CB750-CAFE-RACER-SEAT-/190605504283?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item2c60f92f1b#ht_500wt_899

My Question is this : The seat unit that is already on my bike screws directly in to the frame of the bike, however, I believe the original seat was connected to the bike on hinges ?

Does anyone know if that is the case and if so, do you have any suggestions for me ?

Much appreciated and thanks!

CB750 / Re: Bike not starting
« on: November 20, 2011, 07:17:06 PM »
Thanks all for the replies, and that's exactly where I'm starting...battery is now fully charged for starters and she's starting on the button (with a little encouragment) - BUT she won't tick over even on full choke until fully warm, so, going to now check everything else as you've all described above.

She's a 1976 CB 750 by the way.. pics to follow on my intro post on the newbie section....

Thanks all

CB750 / Bike not starting

OK.. so - I've bought and old bike to learn about them and have a go working on them.

It's just as well, because I can't get the bugger started :

It's got a button start and a kick start - not sure if they all do but this one does.

The button start worked when I picked the bike up but the battery is now too low to turn it over... however - the kick start works occasionally, but then the bike runs for about 60 seconds (if I rev it) before eventually stlling again and having to go through 15 mins of kicking it before going through the same process again.

If I do get it going, once it's warmed up, it's fine, but it just getting it warmed up is a problem - any tips ???

thanks y'all

New Member Introductions / New CB750 Owner

Hello all!

I'm the *proud* new owner of a 1976 CB750 Cafe Racer. I wish it would start but that's another story.

I've had all sorts of bikes from a GT750 Kettle to a 2010 Fireblade with Buells, Ducatis and Harley's thrown in for good measure...

I live in North London, a 15 minute ride from the Ace Cafe. My plans for the bike are to get a new Cafe Racer seat on it, get it starting nicely and ride it!

Nice to meet you all!

Stuart
