CB500/550 / Front wheel binding on left lock!
« on: October 19, 2019, 09:21:54 AM »
Hi, I’m sorting the bike for sale and have a problem with the front wheel binding when on left hand lock.ihave twin disks fitted and have even reversed callipers (gentleman’s bike style) and still it binds also fitted new wheel bearings just to eliminate that from the equation. This does not happen on right lock and rolls freely going forward or back. Any and all I put appreciated.

So here’s the thing I don’t get, how do you drive a motorcycle? I for one for the last 45+ years have always referred to it as riding! Can someone enlighten me as to where/how drive a motorcycle came about?

CB500/550 / Smoking from breather
« on: August 14, 2017, 05:12:05 PM »
Hi guys and gals,
Just got MOT on bike after total rebuild, rebore too 600cc new shells, chains, seals etc.
After getting back from mot noticed a lot of smoke coming out of breather filter (took pipe off) the bike has been stood for about 3 mths with only the odd start up now and then, should I be concerned or is it just hot as running in? (Using halfords 15w40 mineral oil for running in)

Any advice greatfully received, clive

I have bleed the system from top to bottom and vacuum bleed the calipers, also left over night with lever tied to handle! I can without any effort STILL touch the hanle bar with leaver.
Anyone got ideas how I can go from soft and spongey to hard?

Thanks Clive

CB500/550 / Bike update after MOT
« on: April 22, 2017, 12:05:54 PM »
So it went for its MOT and failed rear break pulse (took wheel off yep 95% touching) need too find engineering firm in my area, hand break touching handlebar! I need two hands too achieve this feat, left hand grip can be move and come off er no it's got bar end mirror, I know it's what it is and finally shockers froze, all in all not too bad shocks fixed, grip sorted just breakers to go.

Meanwhile on the way back the bike died 3 times electric or vapour lock who knows this all comes under the pleaser of owning an old bike.
