Thin-wall insulated cable is a better alternative to the traditional pvc insulated cable, which had a very low temperature/melting point. Crimping of terminals can be an issue as the thin-wall insulation is thinner and harder, so finding the right crimp tool for your chosen terminals can be a problem...practice and sample 'pull-off' terminal checks are essential before you start assembling the new loom. Image attach of my current selection of crimp tools.

It's looking good Clive. The 2 blue wires (normally plugged together) are for the optional Euro models resistor (0.5 ohm/20 watt rating) The OE head light had a 40 watt high & 40 watt low main beams The resistor was inserted to differentiate between the high/low beam brightness for MOT reasons back in the day.

Interesting project, completed my first F1 loom a number of years ago. Note Yellow/red insulated cable (starter relay) is connected to Black/yellow insulated cable within the main loom. No idea why? but the B1.B2/C2.D1 looms are all wired this way....Good luck with your project

Not wishing to change the thread...it is related to the diode assembly, was there a part number for the rubber boot that supports the 2-way connector and diode? as image Handy item, as it also has a slot to clip onto the bike frame.

The K3 to K5 had the 5 wire starter motor safety switch fitted as standard, it can be by-passed with links on the main wire harness. The K6 had the popular 2 wire diode unit fitted. As you mentioned, looking at the images on the electrics, the ultra-violet from the sun has certainly dried out the plasticizer on most of the pvc wiring/equipment.

Good luck with the build, I enjoyed doing mine in 2015. Never did find (or could not afford) the OE sloper exhaust's & main stand

Thanks for the comments. Don’t normally sell refurbished looms, but the original CB500 K0 loom on eBay is in good condition. Will also throw in the later 8-way blade connector if you decide to change it….offers invited on this one

Are you saying the Nippon Denso gauges use a different size bulb holder Al?
Most of the gauges/consoles that I have measured have 12mm lamp holder sockets. If there are other gauges that have 14mm sockets, please let me know.

Thanks for the mention. The lamp holder rubbers that I stock as image, will only fit the larger ND gauges with 14mm lamp sockets... CB750, GT750, Laverda Jota clocks. Most of the smaller Honda gauges have 12mm lamp sockets.
