Thanks, interestingly the download parts book shows an R clip at the hub end & a split pin at the frame end!

That's so you can quickly disconnect the hub end to remove wheel. No need to disturb the frame end.

The light green/ red needs to find its way into the headlight bucket and plug into the gauge feed wires. It travels from the switch under the left side cover. Terminating at the bulb@ the neutral light.

Thanks Bryan, I can see that brown wire now on the UK wiring diagram, makes sense even to me.

Hi Ted,

These are known as 'R' pins.
Lots of vendors
Model Fixings do them in zinc plate  https://www.modelfixings.co.uk/r_clips.htm
Bolt World do them in STainless   https://boltworld.co.uk/product-category/fasteners/engineering-keys-and-pins/pins-clips/r-clips/?_gl=1*12jaxfs*_up*MQ..&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIo_PU6beDhgMVnqODBx22nA7lEAAYAiAAEgLXFfD_BwE

I have used both vendors and been happy with both.

Other vendors are out there....

Brown wire goes to the small bulb in headlight in uk which is not fitted in us, unfortunately it is a requirement to have an "obgliatory" light in uk and would fail mot if not there plus if you got a knowlegable plod( both words in one sentence) it could be an offence.
Depending on light size there are plenty of units out there.

Green and red may be neutral switch to idiot light wire

Just had a real quick look before we get ready to go out and it seems as though these early bikes might not have had a clutch switch.

There’s also a brown wire and a green and red wire both free and not connected in the headlight bucket and after a really quick look at the wiring diagram I think these may not be connected to anything either, could be pains over if I’m lucky???

Will have a few hours to muddle through something tomorrow, thanks for all the input, much appreciated.
