Title: First time out since winter..
Post by: florence on April 23, 2015, 07:31:20 PM
Added fresh petrol to half a tank of old, drained carbs, three kicks and off it went.  A gentle spin down private road and MOT booked for next week, just in time for the weather to get wet again.

I keep mine rolling all winter, as long as it is dry I still ride it but it's no fun when it's wet!

I don't usually take it off the road either.  Last year, I accidentally over-wintered the bike because it had a puncture and I didn't get round to fixing it for ages.  Every time I thought about taking the wheel off the weather was awful or I was too busy.  Next thing I knew the battery had gone flat.  Just managed to get the puncture fixed last week and new battery .  Two days later the MOT ran out!  It should be back on the road this week after MOT.

My CB350K4 has been over-winter/summered for 20 years (gosh time flies) due to big end problem.  The crank is replaced and it runs and rides but it now needs lots of other things fixing due to it's long rest.  Planned for MOT later in the year.

good for you,

mine has MOT,Insurance, new tyres and fuel, needs road tax from today, but can't tax it because the DVLA has my logbook,

was changing colour and to Historic,

they changed the colour, but I can only change to historic when I re-tax it !!!!  go figure

so I can't ride it untill I receive the new logbook, and take it to the post office to get free tax and change status,
is it me,but the DVLA know it has insurance,MOT till 2016,would it be common sense to click a button and re-tax the bike???

 after all,no monies change hands,

I am glad its bank holiday, with the normal poor weather,

good luck all,have fun

no,it is classed as not taxed/overdue,

but today I had the new V5c,so went to tax it,zero payment -))) ,so all is ok,when it stops raining I will get it out,

BTW,when I sent the log book to DVLA,I enclosed the age related letter from Honda,(costing £30) needless to say, they did NOT return it!!,
I am just about to e-mail them, and find out whats happening,

I think they only change the tax status when you apply for a new years road tax,
they would not change mine while I still had time remaining,I may be wrong, but good luck !!!
