Happy retirement Ian, can do you a great trade deal on a mobility scooter  ;D

thanks for that- feeling good today and think my knees have a few months left in them! (just)

surely on the sohc forum it should be a bath chair with wicker seat?

classic Hondas are important to Motad- 4-1 for both 500 and 750 fours were the first systems made 40 years ago- so we want to keep in touch

Luke and Dan in sales will continue to be available on sales@motad.co.uk but I am handing this over for them to be looking at the forum and being of assistance

and I think its good that there are really two markets

1. the person who wants it 100% original and is willing to pay mega money

and

2. they want a nice old bike from their past to ride and enjoy (and still have some money left for the other toys and hobbies)

Motad will continue in market 2

the tooling cost to double skin a specific 4-1 is likely to be around £30,000

divide this by sales of (perhaps) a 100 and the cost of a double skinned system against single skinned (and a bit of discolouration) is increased by £300!
I am lucky enough to have a new set of originals but if not I would have gladly paid the extra 300 GBP for double skinned. I can't understand why Yamiya never went for double skinned, as they did on the 750 pipes they repro.

Bottom line is that (probably) 90% of all potential purchasers although they would like the extra feature, have another use for the £300. Its like when we have an option on a particular model and deciding on making (lets say) a 4-2 system or a 4-1 at lower cost- if asked 90% of customers will prefer the 4-2 if it looks more like original- and 95% will actually buy the 4-1 becuase its much cheaper

we are making "our " version of the original pipes and collector in stainless at £160 delivered
this will allow a silencer to be fitted- a personal view but the Supertrapp baffling is VERY 70s! and could be improved

mail me on ianmcdonald@motad.co.uk

or sales@motad.co.uk after end of month as I am retiring

Thanks to the several forumers who came and said hello at the show.

Its always nice to put a face to the postings

A great weekend and one of few where being outside (rather than in the halls) was more appealing.

Think I may have a different view in October with the snow falling!

glad you are pleased

we are planning to make a batch of stainless steel systems with stainless silencer- perhaps so you can use for every day use and keep an original system for shows and displays

The motad on my 550 does the same thing until it's warmed up. The leak appears to come from where the down pipes slide into the exhaust itself.

don't know how long your system has been on- but I would expect any weeps to be sealed within 500 miles as the joint carbons up. May be worth just checking that the pipe is snug into the collector and even (rarely needed) a wipe of exhaust paste on the joint after removal just to stop any tiny movement

Did you get enough interest from the C90 club to consider making a stainless system for that model?

sorry no- take way the "non enthusiasts" who just want cheap- and there just wasn't enough interest to cover the (v expensive) toiling cost- but keep the enquiries coming!

we are making a batch of our original 400-4 Motad system in stainless steel - a complete system (not swoopy pipes like oe) a good solid system especially if you want to take off your original (are they made of gold?) system

and we will be offering soon a complete stainless steel system using our version of the original swoopy pipes collector as offered above in chrome- again with our version of the original silencer in stainless

email me on ianmcdonald@motad.co.uk- I would like to keep the forum as just that and not be selling on here

thanks for that- still got a few sets left and it would be good to keep them all within the SOHC group (so much nicer dealing with you guys!)
