Dont want to turn the forum into a shop- but we have several of our uk made 400-4 pipesets (our version of the Honda system) which are "seconds"- minor marks to pipes caused during shipping. So not for your nut and bolt perfect rebuild but if you are removating a bike on a budget- the perfect option
before I offer these to our dealer and "the public" I wanted to offer them to forum members
is this ok Mr Admin???
if so (and dont want to make it a market- so I will just say cheap!) please email me on ianmcdonald@motad.co.uk- back in the office Thursday to respond

the pipe that performs the worst often feels the fastest
proper design with smooth power curve feels nothing special
the short systems based on styling more than power feel fast as the power comes in after the huge loss mid range
I remember us dynoing a cb900f based "special endurance race bike" years ago- it was 15 % down against the standard bike but the rider thought it was the fastest thing in the world because of the lumpy power curve

My question is, will you make Yoshi style pipes again? I'm not too fussed about mid range loss.
sorry but no- we made them under licence for the distributor anyway- I know its boring (!) but just not happy with putting out a product that doesn't work even if it looks pretty!

Hello, I have 550f and super keen to have Yoshi style pipes, so long oil filter can be changed with pipes on.
Thanks!
we made the "original" Yoshi pipes for the uk distributor in the 70s- downside to the design is that midrange power is reduced. A standard Motad will allow filter removal without removing exhaust

we used to make Yoshimura under licence for David Dixon the uk importer in the 80s (that's the 1980s!!!)
as with all of this "thin" silencer 4-1 the power was just appalling with the major mid range "hole" making it feel good! (so we don't!)

Got to drag this story out!- working at Micron in the 90s (my 10 year holiday from motad)
We were mega busy, phones going crazy and we were all under pressure
Lisa takes a call (on a bad line) and when asked a question, when she asked who was calling was told "Mr Silly"- just before she told the person to stop the "wind up" and that we did not have time for joking- it was Colin calling!!
that was a lucky escape
(and nice Neta on the Kawa- they just would not give in and break!)

and after all these years Mark is still there grafting!- the 4 th (or 5 ) main dealer to "sign up" when we started out all those years ago.

How many firm orders would you need to consider it though? And what kind of prices in chrome or stainless? There is a Honda Cub forum, and finding quality exhausts is like the holy grail, even gen Honda ones are now made in Brazil and not much better than far eastern stuff!
the condition 4 (severe external use chrome) is mega expensive and we will never downgrade so it would be stainless I will do some "digging" to see how much interest there is- and I have no problem if you are on the cub forum I have no problem in you discussing it and posting up my email address ianmcdonald@motad.co.uk as a contact to see how many people might be interested perhaps email me and we can discuss this of forum? I took my bike test on a c90!

Ian, do you make, or could you make a decent exhaust for the Honda 90 cub (85cc 12volt version) as most of the pattern exhausts on sale are crap! They rust badly within 6 months, and frequently snap the downpipe about 2 inches from the head. Stainless downpipe is available from Vietnam, but no sensible silencer to fit it!
sorry no- just not enough sensible people (like you) who realise the advantage of buying uk and spending a bit more- we cant get close for the people just looking at price discussed with our production team to us all moving to £20 a week ( and all the bean sprouts they could eat)- but lets say it was a short discussion!

Just to update this discussion.
We have identified the single production batch where there was a fit problem and recovered/scrapped them
we have taken the opportunity to get another bike in an make all new manufacturing and checking jigs to ensure that this never happens again. In fact at random 20% of current production has been checked on a bike to complete this issue 100%-
David Silver now has new stock available for sale.
Sorry for the delay guys!

all of our stuff is made here in the uk- by humans- and sometimes humans make mistakes
was difficult to track down what had happened to this system as the supplying dealer was unknown
but I can say that as the second model we ever made- we have made around 5,000 of these systems and if the correct fitting kit for the specific model is used it fits well
and in the very rare case of help being needed- we are ready to support
sales@motad.co.uk is the contact

I sold my K2 for £350 all those years ago (mistake)
I just panic when the "investment" word is used- as a supplier of bits I am keen to have the bikes out being used as motorcycles - and hopefully buying more bits as things wear out

Nice response Ian and hopefully this gets resolved amicably. I for one am really pleased you're getting involved here. Regards, james
its a simple equation- you guys pay my foodbill (along with 23 others)- and we are all quite keen on continuing eating we just need to be told of any issues if we are to resolve them!

I understand from your email to our Sales dept - that much of your anger was because your dealer was not answering your questions
clearly first step is to resolve this issue (we are always ready when asked) and Dan in sales has already sent you an email answering your questions, sending another set of fitting instructions with diagram and awaiting your feedback so we can get this resolved and your system fitted
Ian
sent today as I am out of the office from tonight until Thursday and I do not want resolution delayed
