CB750 / Cylinder head exhaust stubs removal ?
« on: January 03, 2013, 09:56:43 PM »
I'm ready to remove the engine form the frame of my F2 but need to remove the stubs from the cylinder head. i have a Haynes work shop manual that covers all sohc 750's that states " the stubs are retained by 2 cross head screws " with no mention of a mod to the F2. I cannot see any screws retaining the stubs and i'm at a loss how i can remove them without causing damage to the stubs or cylinder head. They look quite corroded so maybe stubborn to shift at best !!
What's my best course of action  ?

Thanks Paul.

CB750 / Frame coatings
« on: November 29, 2012, 09:07:46 PM »
Good evening all,

My F2 is well on the way to being stripped now ready to have the frame and other bits and pieces coated ready for the Cafe build.
There is a coating firm in my Town who do the following coatings.... Polythene, nylon and PPA.  http://www.kelcoat.co.uk/
No mention of powder coating as you guys seem to favour. Is what they have to offer a form of powder coating ?
Any suggestions are very welcome.

Thanks Paul.

CB750 / UK Cafe Racer Market
« on: November 25, 2012, 12:51:59 PM »
Am i wrong or hasn't the Cafe Racer aftermarket parts business taken off in the UK yet ?. I'm looking for CB750 specific Cafe bits but i keep drawing a blank, even on eBay, yet its all happening in the US. I don't mind buying from the US but their postage costs are horrendous !!

Any thoughts ?

CB750 / Electronic ignition
« on: November 15, 2012, 08:02:33 PM »
I have a 750/4 sohc f2 that is a pig to start and warm up. Before i start taking it apart as a Cafe Racer project i want it running properly and i'm thinking seriously about replacing the the points with Electronic Ignition. Does any one here have any experience of fitting and tuning one of these and how much better the engine runs once fitted ?

Cheers Paul.

CB750 / The difference between US and UK spec
« on: March 23, 2011, 08:33:39 PM »
Hi all, my CB750 f2 is US spec (see pic below) What is the difference between US and UK spec ?

My seat isn't standard so ignor that, as far as i can tell looking at some UK spec bikes on here the main difference are the handle bars, switch gear and maybe the rear light position. Although why would the US bike have its rear light sat higher than the UK bike ? (look at uk pete's bike).
The rest of the bike looks pretty much the same to me.

Any ideas where i can get hold of the side seat strips from ?

Cheers Paul.

Brings a tear to my eye.... I regret selling it to this day and i often dream of still owning it :'(

New Member Introductions / Thanks Pete
« on: February 20, 2011, 08:33:50 PM »
I've just registered on the US forum tonight and got into a short chat with UKPete who informed me of this UK site, so just want to thank him for pointing me in the right direction.

My name is Paul, i'm from Leek Staffordshire and today i bought a 1978 Honda CB750 f2 Supersport. Not mint by any means but quite tidy and road worthy which will have 12 months MOT when i collect it next weekend.
My intention was to buy an old Jap 4 as a Cafe Racer project which i still intend to do but as this bike is so good i'll just ride it this summer with the mrs on the back and enjoy it before stripping it and maybe in time i might just rtestore it to its former glory.

I have an R1 which will have to be sold as i never ride it much these days (to fast and i'm top old)

I test rode the Honda today and was surprised how well it handled for an old bike. OK it's sh*t slow by todays standards but the gearbox is so slick it puts modern bikes to shame especiall my R1 !!

Any way if you don't mind i'll hang around and hopefully pick up some useful info on my journey back in time  ;)
