Is the pan metal ? If it is, strip and repaint first. The star washer are for holding the chrome trim on. When cutting foam, use a electric kitchen knife.

That foam is no good. It is not firm enough. The original foam was injected into a mold. It is down to having firm foam and getting the shape right.

Foam comes in many grades, best bet is a similar shape seat foam (I think superdream one was sacrificed to do one of mine, as it was around and spare) as the front corners can be a pain to get good. Failing that you cannot beat a good fabric shop (or market stall) for being able to compare the firmness / density of the foam. the firmer stuff is also easyer to cut to shape with a kitchen knife, softer stuff can be handy to give a smoother covering.
Got a 500/4 with rust and a sidecar and loadsa bits. nice and original and been round the clock

Pretty sure bobtheseat on ebay sells custom made seat foams, not on his ebay page but worth dropping him a line, they used to cost £30

Until recently never have done a seat rebuild.Tryed a new pattern seat was real disapointed so thought what the hell have a go.Got the seat cover pulled it apart and thought this is not rocket science and well pleased with the outcome albiet a 750 seat.Have a go and see what comes of it you never know.

John, I found the best seat covers are done by a firm called Dis-covers. They do the full range with the Honda logo.

thanks Mike and Trigger,

just searched Dis-cover,it could be Stroud in Glouscester.,

local to me,although the cost of £30 including P&P is very reasonable,

willing to support local industry !!
