It is a useful question to ask.

When does an electric bike become a “ powered two wheeler”?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Electric bicycles are classed as regular bicycles unless they can travel at more than 25kph (15.5mph), have a motor over 250 Watts of power or can be ridden on electric power without using the pedals. If it doesn't comply with any one of these, then it's a motorcycle.

Ah, I see now Oddjob. That's a different part number to the one in this thread. Ted posted 91256-657-920 and the CMSNL one is part number 91256-096-651. I have no idea which one is the correct seal for Ted's bike?

And yet CMS quote that part number as 4.8 x 14.5 not 15. Odd.

Not on my PC Oddjob, they quote 4.8x15x4mm too:

91256-657-920 is indeed the oil seal for a 500 four and it is 4.8X15X4mm. Should be easy enough to pick up at simply bearings for not very much money. Here you go:

hey Si i would be interested for my Lazarus project. Did you ever trial fit it or has anyone had any experience of the fit as i got one for my 550 f2 and it did not fit well at all.

No, I didn't fit it. I got Bob The Seat to refurbish my metal seat pan. It's a bit of a story, he had my seat pan for about 9 months and I was getting towards the end of the build, so bought this one. A few days after it arrived my seat turned up from Bob. It has never been fitted and have no idea how it looks on the bike but I'm sure someone on here will know.

I have been tidying the garage and found this stored in the rafters. ISTR that I bought this from DSS about three years ago but haven't used it for some reason. DSS replacement seat for a CB500 Four K1 with a plastic base. Complete with grab strap and chrome trim. Never fitted, a bit dusty but otherwise as purchased I think. Close inspection suggests that the front trim could do with a bit of adhesive, otherwise it's good to go.

Part number from DSS HHCAA-323-050AP, cost new £178 inc VAT plus delivery.
Priced at £100 delivered to a UK mainland address.
Payment through PayPal F&F or bank transfer.

Thanks, Sye

I've been using Renapur on all things leather since the 1980's and have yet to find anything better. Expensive but last for years and is waterproof too.

Why would anyone do that in the first place? Is it damaged beyond repair inside?

I think I would replace it rather than go to the trouble of separating the two as there's no guarantee that it would be usable.

I painted mine just fine. Use a dremel wire brush to remove the old finish and prime with etch primer. Top coat in satin black, job done.

VFR750's are known to have weak R/R's. I had two replacements on my FV before upgrading to a Mosfet unit. Check the connector and check for overheating signs and repair/replace as necessary. Replace the reg rec with either the upgraded Honda unit or replace with a Mosfet.
