Quite happy to do some 'alterations' to the tank to make it fit.

Hi Jamesh, do you want to sell it? Assuming it's in good condition?

Thinking of the same idea re clip on's, do all the cables have to be shortened or can they just flex further out of the front of the bike.
Any other 'watch outs'?

New Member Introductions / CBF1 journey starts here
« on: October 14, 2014, 09:15:47 PM »
OK, the project starts.
The last time I owned a Honda it was a CB175 (twin carb) back in the 70"s great fun and fond memories.
Now somewhat older but with my son we've just bought a 1978 CB750F1 - it's already had some work done and seems to be pretty well spec'd.
Like the other 'newbie' we plan to also convert it into a Cafe Racer.

A few areas of  immediate advice:
1) I need to change the tank, current tank is a Seeley Alloy Phil Read Replica (100% perfect condition) I just think it's too big for the bike. What are the Honda model options range for a direct fit?
2) The bike also has fully restored Lester Mags (100% perfect condition) but think some traditional spoked wheels will look best - any advice re the hubs. Bike has discs front and back on an old stock Dresda Rear Swing Arm
3) Going to need to source a new rear seat (brown leather) and aluminum cowel (Cafe racer style) any one had any good experiences/recommendations?
4) Clip on's - any do's and dont's?

Thats the immediate questions, I'm sure more will surface as we progress.
Looking forward to chatting to you all and maybe meeting up if a local CB750 ride out is something you do?
Best
Dunc
