CB350/400 / D & M Engineering ??
« on: October 30, 2014, 09:14:46 AM »
Hello,
I have just been reading the article about D&M engineering in the November edition of Classic Bike.
Does anyone know anything about them?
Dave, Pete, are you members on this site?
Their website appears to be offline ... www.d-mengineering.co.uk

CB350/400 / Steering stop and steering dampers
« on: October 29, 2014, 11:23:54 AM »
Hello all,
My steering stop lug was replaced by my paint guy before he sprayed my frame but it has subsequently been knocked off again.
He has done such a fantastic job of all the paintwork that welding another one on would be messy and destroy the paintwork around the headstock.
Obviously, I don't want to be without a steering stop of any kind as my beautiful new tank will get damaged.

Any ideas?
I have heard that fitting a steering damper could solve the problem as it can be set with limited travel i.e. stops. and give the added benefit of improved steering ......though I will not be getting my kneedown on the this bike. From what I remember the exhaust and pegs ground out way before my short knees reach the floor!!

Has anyone fitted a steering damper to a sohc and can recommend one for me.

Cheers

CB350/400 / Local engine rebuilder ?
« on: September 01, 2014, 10:49:11 PM »
Hi there,
Can anyone recommend an engine rebuilder for a 400 in the Portsmouth / Southampton area ?
My restoration has slowed down a bit and I think getting the engine done, if the price is not too inhibitive, may kickstart things (or electric start them!)
I would be looking at a basic strip, clean, check and rebuild. Don't think I would go as far as vapour blasting etc.

Also, what should the rough costs be for an engine rebuild. The engine was good when laid up but that was many years ago.

CB350/400 / Cb400 Fuel filler cap. Disassemble?
« on: May 03, 2014, 10:52:44 AM »
Hi there,
I have just signed up to the forum for my first, I suspect of many, pieces of advice as I have gotten around to restoring my 1977 400 four.
I have owned it since 1992 at which time I did a reasonable restoration job and rode it on and off for about 8 years. It has since then been sat at the back of various garages slowly gathering dust and corrosion.
Frame, tank and panels etc all now painted and the rebuild process has begun.

Anyway, my first question is ....does anyone know if there is a way to take the fuel filler cap apart for re-chroming?  It's a non-lockable cap.

Cheers
