Title: Pic posting problem
Post by: AndyH on August 18, 2017, 09:50:41 AM
When I attempt to upload more than one pic (JPG) from my laptop, the website spits the dummy with  "HTTP Error 500".  This has happened only in the past 24 hours....prior to that I had no probs, and yes, I did ensure that each pic size was correct.
Any ideas?
TIA Himble (Andy)

Use IMGUR.

http://imgur.com/

You upload the pictures there and then copy the IMG line and paste that on the post in the forum.
That way you are just linking the picture which is hosted on the IMGUR website.
It says BB code (message boards and forums) and this is what you get.

Which link are you copying. Click on the picture you have uploaded. To the right side it will bring up four or five links.
You need to click on the one I listed above, it will turn green, then click on copy.
Go back to your post in the sohc forum, right click and paste.
Post the reply and your picture will appear not just a link you have to click on.

Thanks Paul, but I prefer not to use these sorts of sites.  I much prefer to keep my pics on my own desktop/laptop etc.

Sorry for the tardy response - I've been in the Peak District with mobile or broadband...

500 errors are serious server errors and don't happen very often  - probably thing to do with what you are trying to do.

There's a FAQ on posting pictures in the newbie introductions section - there's no problem with you uploading images, just make sure they are a reasonable size. A 4000 x 3000 image takes up loads of expensive storage and doesn't appear any better on the screen. Stick to 1024 wide as a rule.

Not sure why Steve, but I'm again able to upload direct from my laptop.  ???
