Pretty common knowledge that the CB750 & the CB250/350K share the same camchain (as also the rubber idler roller) but does anyone know if the race version parts (two versions -970 & -971) are suitable for use on the standard road bikes? see pic.

Shouldn't be a problem as I use a heavy duty chain in my CB750K3. However, those chains in the pic are around 40 years old, given a choice I'd go for the chain as supplied by CycleX in the USA and even at 100 of you your hard earned pounds its probably going to be a lot cheaper than a 970 / 971 part.

Eric

Cheers Eric ..One of them is the dog-bone shape (970) and the other two I have are flat plate sided (971). Was one made by Tsubaki?

Having dealt with Andy the chain man on a number of occasions for both my Laverda and various Honda's I can recommend him, what he doesn't know about chains isn't worth knowing. He matched up my balance chain and saved me potentially over £200.
If you send him your chain he will match it with a race chain, he only deals with quality chain, nothing made of string!
He's worth a call, his number is 01299 403688. He also has a website.
