Stainless needs a lot of cleaning and buffing to keep nice. Chrome DID is a lot less hassle and stay bright  for many years  ;)

The Chrome DID Rims I bought from DS were good value and good quality. My Wheelbuilder said they were as good as anything else for the money....and better than many others.

The only drawback is that they are stamped around the outside of the rim so not as original - if that's what you want.

https://www.devonrimcompany.com/   - are top quality but quite expensive. Check them out.

CWC are OK but I have just had to replace a set of their Triple UK Chrome 'unused' Rims that were riddled with rust spots after 8 years storage in the loft......never been fitted to the bike....never seen rain or sunshine......never used - and still wrapped in bubble wrap waiting for a T120 rebuild (still waiting). They have been now replaced by CWC Stainless Rims at a cost of £350 !

Another 'lesson learned' I'm afraid.

If anyone wants NOS original DID rear for a 400/4, Cb350/4 or CB250/350K/G5 David Silver has some .. not cheap but neither is rechroming.

That's not bad really Ash. As Alan mentioned in his earlier reply stainless rims are not cheap either. I had CWS rebuild my 400/4 front and back wheels with stainless rims and spokes, new Avon tyres and a hub polish at a special Stafford show price of £620!!!!!! I replaced all the bearings when I got them back.
I have since found a wheel builder 5 miles from home who respoked the 250RS wheels with stainless for £130.

Devon Rims do the best chrome rims, British made and the wheel builder I use says they're the best, they do stainless as well. Some stainless rims are quite dull and don't look as good as chrome

I have stainless rims and spokes on my 500

supplied by Central, they also add spare spokes ,

I also have the same on my RD Yam,but these were from Hagon, the eason I swopped suppliers was Hagon had all the details and dimensions

can't fault either ,and they keep nice and shiny and clean

When you talk to people that have restored their bikes not many have built the wheels. Yet it is quite easy do but seems to frighten a lot off for some reason. Building a wheel I find very satisfying.

I got a pair from DS and they are fine

I rechromed an original front cost 90.00 DS new rim cost 90.00 (in the end used DS and kept the rechromed one for later)
I used stainless spokes and nipples for ease of cleaning and hopefully they should last longer

Yes they are date stamped on the side of the rim,but they are DID rims like originals
