Not a CBX, it is only 2 and a half  ;)

I have just watched some vids on YouTube of them bikes, pretty amazing stuff for a 250(I hadn't a clue what it was to be honest !!!).

That’s exactly what I thought when I saw that picture.

But remember the sheer size of the CBX engine. That looks too small.

;) yes it is a cbx 1000 my mate has three of them im sure i heard off another cbx rider that the engine is only an inch wider than an cb750 but that is at the crankshaft as you can see in the pic the alternator is piggy-backed behind the cylinders
what a piece of engineering that one is

Certainly looks like a 1000 based unit to me.  Frame, side panels and other bits certainly are.  Wot, no chain guard?
Yes the CBX engine is only an inch or so wider than the 750 but still looks a big lump.  Honda even bevelled the engine covers at the bottom to give more cornering clearance.
I hated the paint job on my CBX Z when I bought it but it was very well done.  I sold it to a mate before I moved to Orkney and it’s now back to standard Silver and black. It still has the oversize motor though!  It sounded lovely with the Marshall system on and was ‘rather quick’ 🤓

I still have the Mike Hailwood tank though.

I'm pretty sure in amongst all the German talk ..I did hear the phrase ' cbx1000..' but that's all the info I could glean! I'd had a few beers as well! 😁

Fed an early CBX1000
the original design was loosely based on the 1966 RC166 250-6 racer.
Those were tiny

I am glad someone is on the same level. Yes, the engine in the bike is a CBX but, it can not be called a RC166 replica. You can't build a CR750 replica and have a 250 engine in it  ::)

Yes Trig,
Certainly not a replica, not sure what you might call it but it IS beautiful nonetheless and the pipes follow the same form as the original.  The 250/6 motor was tiny in comparison and only seemed to come halfway up the frame.  I had the pleasure of being at Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough when Hailwood appeared with it.  Was there also a 297 six? I remember him sitting in the seat of his Iso Grifo in the paddock after one race, looking absolutely knackered.  Sadly I thought it was that same meeting that Fritz Scheidegger lost his life in the Sidecar race but wiki says different.

Lovely bike,  but no replica. The drum brakes must be hilarious when they get hot!

Somewhere on YouTube there’s a video of an RC166 being stripped on a Japanese TV show. I can’t understand a word but it’s like a Swiss watch inside.

I wish I was at the TT by the way, enjoy it.

Looks fantastic, but not sure how you change down gears without melting your feet.
