Title: 400/4 Carb bits
Post by: Matt_Harrington on November 13, 2022, 02:09:52 PM
Mmm, I seen to have lost the following:

1. 2 off nuts from the choke control rods (slim M7)
2. 2 off caps that are on the same shaft that retain the felt washers.

Anyone got those parts they want to part with?

Matt

Bryan, don't worry about the nuts - I've made the half nuts. I'll try and turn up the flanged washers tomorrow but if you find a couple of originals.....

I think they are plastic from memory

Nope, small metal ones which retain the felt washers on the choke shafts (either side).
Comme ca:

It is the washer either side of the felt washers and is a light press fit into the carb body.....

Mind you, Bryan, That is a good idea! - I could turn up some solid nylon ones if needs be - much simpler.....

You're thinking of the 500 Bryan, has plastic top hats on the throttle lifter arm.

Kept thinking of what Matt was referring to but seeing the pic has refreshed my memory. I'd go with plastic ones Matt, they are only dust seals after all.

Got into garage today, can easily get the nuts, lockwashers and operating arms. Washers means i have to remove choke buterflies which i dont really want to do.
The plastic top hat washers i was thinking of are on the throttle shafts

Bryan, Thanks for looking. Max has sorted the cup washers and I have made the M7 half nuts, so I think I'm sorted. Yes - don't dismantle the carbs. The only bit I need to make is the end one on N04  - this is a blanking plug and can be easily made from brass and secured in place.
