Hello Folks,
can someone please tell me the overall fork leg length for a CB400F? That's the stanchion and slider assembled together, from the top of the stanchion tube to the middle of the axle hole when the bike is unloaded. I'm planning to build a special and want to use Italian 35mm forks for nefarious reasons of my own.
Cheers, MikeJ

Hi Mike
I can measure it for you from mine. Do you want the measurement with the front wheel on the ground or the bike on the centre stand with the weight off the wheel?. Taking into account that with the wheel on the ground the forks will be compressed somewhat or if on the centre stand with wheel off the ground the forks will be extended somewhat.

Mike
700mm fully extended.
Hope that will help.
Daniel
[forgot, you're British: 27 9/16 inches] ;)

I second this Herr
Youre gonna need new yokes or hone your 33mm ones out though!

Hello,
wow! that was quick! Thanks for all the replies. I was planning to use CB550 yokes to take the fork legs. Now, what's 35mm in imperial?

I done the same but it wasnt a straight swap.i had to get handy with the grinder to the headstock
-
EEK!, what did you have to grind off?

I found the 550 stem on the btm yoke was shorter than the 400.i had to grind a bit off the bottom of the headstock to gain enough thread at the top.

O.K., thanks Noriron, I'll keep an eye out for that when the time comes,

Hello again,
weirdly, the CB550 yokes put the fork legs closer together than the 400F, so I wouldn't be able to use the wheel I want. Does anyone know if a set of CB750 yokes would fit, and what the leg spacing and diameter dimensions would be?
Cheers, MikeJ

They cant be 550 yokes then mike!
550 yokes definately are wider than 400s
-
Just double checked there and centre to centre the 550 is 10mm wider
-
Hello there, thanks for checking- I don't know if the yokes I have are for a CB550F maybe? I don't know if they're different. Anyway, I've got a set of 750 yokes which will fit with a bit of finagling,
Cheers, MikeJ
