Misc / Open / Insurance
« on: May 05, 2017, 09:55:37 AM »
Hi All,
I now have 3 bikes in the garage, all at various stages of restoration, two UK registered and one imported.
I was wondering about insurance.
Can I insure all of the bikes as "off the road" or do I need to insure them as potentially road going vehicles?

Also Which is the best insurance company to use for this sort of thing?
You guys are the font of all knowledge so thought I would ask you first before spending a day ringing around all the different companies and giving my details to all and sundry.
Thanks in advance.

CB750 / 750k5 coils
« on: April 27, 2017, 10:13:19 AM »
Hi all,
As you may or may not know I am restoring a USA import K5.
I want to replace the coils as the leads are really hard and not flexible at all.
Apart from D.S. (who is out of stock), where can I get a new set from please.
I dont need OEM but a decent pattern set that will do the job will suffice, as long as they look similar to the originals and are reliable.
Ive seen a few on fleabay but they look nothing like the originals or i could get the dyno ones but they are green.
A little help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

CB750 / Vapour blasting
« on: April 19, 2017, 11:46:45 AM »
I sent my head, barrels, rocker cover etc to the vapour blaster. Currently waiting for the call to collect them.
I feel like an expectant father. Surely this is not right!!!

Ive never gone to this level of restoration before, So chaps, when I get them back, what do I need to ensure before putting the engine back together?
Thanks in advance

CB750 / Low Compression
« on: April 04, 2017, 12:38:03 PM »
Been struggling to start my 750 K5, refurbed the carbs, changed leads, plugs, points, timing is spot on, etc etc. Thought I would check the compression. only 65 PSI per cylinder.
I suppose thats what you get for buying a bike that hasnt turned a wheel since the 80's. (USA Import)
So engine out, valve relap, stem seals, piston rings and honing I suppose.

Hi All,
I havent long moved up to the midlands so do not have a network of suppliers/mates to help out with my "projects" yet.
I need to get my wheels vapour blased and rebuilt.
Does anyone know of anyone in the Solihull area that can supply and fit spokes and rims and vapour blast my hubs please?
I would take this on myself but would like it done properly on this bike.
Ive spoken to Central Wheel Components and they wanted £500.00 to do the pair. i'm sure I didnt pay this when I lived down south.
Thanks in advance. :D

Project Board / Here's my 750K5 project.
« on: March 07, 2017, 01:31:22 PM »
It looked like this when I bought it.
Carbs were so badly seized that the needles had fused to the top of the float bowl.
Engine was free though.
Every chrome part was rusty but the engine and frame were suprisingly good.
Bars had to go along with that awful seat!!!

Hi All,
Thanks for letting me join the club.
I have a 750K5 that is in the middle of restoration.
Lots of time and effort, but worth it in the long run I hope.
