Can I fit an mph speedo to an imported bike from France that has had a kph speedo from new? Is the difference between kph and mph taken care of in the speedo itself, or, by the speedo drive? Thanks.

Just a thought - have you checked the needle valve clip setting position? I had similar sounding problems with my 500 K0 and a lot of its issues (much spluttering above about 5.5k revs) were caused by an over rich mixture, primarily caused by incorrect needle jet height. Mine were dropped by one notch and, with original (very expensive, David Silver Honda nos O rings in the carbs), the overall affect was miraculous; you could mention CB500 and Swiss watch in the same sentence without blushing!

Hi - my 500 K0 was fitted with a front number plate when bought new in the UK in late '72 (delivered January '73). I'd be happy to send you any photos and dimensions of the original front plate (which I still have) if it might help? Cheers.

Many thanks for all your input - it's much appreciated. I'll go with the middle (third) groove to begin with and then go from there.

CB500/550 / CB500 K0 Carb Needle Jet settings
« on: April 06, 2016, 05:31:08 PM »
Hi. Would anyone have any advice for what groove the standard needle jet setting is please for my CB500/4 K0? It runs all all original carbs, pipes, air box and filter. My original Honda owners manual and all the other references I have seem to omit this detail. Your help much appreciated. Many thanks.

Misc / Open / Re: This months classic bike cb500 vs cb750
« on: March 01, 2015, 12:36:14 PM »
Hi to all! Apologies that its taken me so long to get on the forum to respond to the kind questions asked about the CB750/4 and particularly the CB500/4 in this months Classic Bike test. The bikes are mine. I can confirm the 500/4 was brought brand new in Sussex. The sales invoice is dated 4th February '73, so I guess it's most probably a 1972 manufactured bike. The bike is as Honda made it apart from the pipes (its third genuine set) and regular service items. Its never been repainted or restored so the side panel stickers and headlamp ears are those which the bike was manufactured with. I had always assumed it was a K1, but after whats been said, could it be a K0?? Be interesting to know. Regards. Bike Addict.
