CB750 / 750 F2 Cafe racer project 2011
« on: March 06, 2011, 07:49:45 PM »
Hi all, i have decided to start another one of my projects , again it will be a 750f2 sohc but this one is a parts bin special cafe racer project
I have 99% of the bits i need for this, many of them aquired while searching for bits for my 77 f2 restoration i bought job lots of bits just to get certain bits i needed and so ended up with some very usefull parts
This has given me a great excuse to build a cafe, and this one is going to be a stunner with lots of period mods, and goodies, i have seen some real good cafes recently and so have saved a few pictures as inspiration for my own
This will have to be a quick project as i have so many other bike projects in the que and it will take me a life time to complete them all unless i get my finger out and build them a bit faster , so here goes post 1 of the new project

CB750 / 750 SOHC Brothers
« on: March 06, 2011, 07:25:50 PM »
Today i took 3 of my bikes out for a good ride about taking advantage of the good weather, i got my sohc cam brothers out the K1 and the F2
both lovely standard examles of the Early and late 750
It was a great ride out topped off with a complete lunatic thrashing of my fz1,  i probably done about 50 miles shared  between them
I am so proud of my ever growing collection of bikes, and really enjoy the riding especially the ones which i have slaved away rebuilding, here are a few pictures

CB750 / Crunching gears
« on: February 25, 2011, 08:17:03 AM »
What makes a bike crunch when you put it in first gear?
When i am sitting at lights with other bikes then every one senses the lights are about to change , all you here is a load of almighty crunching where people are selecting first gear.
I think Honda is the worst just by way of observation and that any honda i own does it
Having just got my F2 back together and giving it a few runs around the block i have noticed with mine a big crunch when selecting first, its probably the worst i have had on a bike and it is the same for my K1 both of them do it bad, the clutch is working really good on the F2 no drag whatsoever so is it just bad design, i find my Kawasaki's dont do it so much but my Yamaha FZ1 does but only when hot.

OH yes the F2 is on its way to the MOT station in an hours time , fingers crossed

CB750 / Water coming from exhaust
« on: February 19, 2011, 10:05:41 AM »
I now have my rebuilt f2 engine running smoothly , but i have a few leaks one is from the neutral light switch, an easy fix i think, but the other is a huge amount of water pissing out the exhaust collector box join, i can not believe how much comes out, i have noticed a bit here and there on my K1 but this is lots on the F2 , i cant take the bike for a ride yet as i have cut the frame and need to instal a frame kit so i can ride it, i suppose its crying out for a long run to burn it off, all the stop and starting is not that good for iti suppose
Does any one elses bike do this?

CB750 / 750 oil flow
« on: February 16, 2011, 04:47:50 PM »
with my rocker box off and engine and oil tank full of oil, i decided to check the oil flow was getting up to the top end
it was getting up there alright pumping through the cam bearings, and squirting out the four holes directed at the cam lobes, but to my horror i see that no oil passage to the rocker shafts, just a small hole on the top of each rocker in the hope that oil splashing around will work its way in there
anyway after having my engine running for about 5 mins on off, maximum of 3000 revs i took off the back tappet covers only to see them virtually dry, certainly not swmming in oil, and the inside of the tappet cap bone dry
does this mean that you have to rev the granny out the thing in the hope that a splash of oil gets to the shafts? if so what a shit design
or am i missing something

Other Bikes / Engine problems
« on: November 21, 2010, 08:07:58 PM »
What the F---K would cause the piston  to disintegrate in this kawasaki engine, the conrod went straight through the front and back of the barrel totally trashing the whole engine, it wasnt through lack of oil or seizure
