CB750 / was this my problem all along ???
« on: August 21, 2011, 04:55:55 PM »
ever since i got my 750 f1 running i have had nightmare carb problems.
leaks from dodgy float valves, fuel starvation problems & the bike had no power after 1/4-1/3 throttle.
i fitted another set of carbs but had no joy. bought an ultrasonic cleaning tank, stripped carbs down & re-fitted. still useless.
bought another set of carbs & did the same to them  (my 3rd set !)

fitted them yesterday & at the same time i also fitted the rubber pipe from top of airbox to that emmision cannister thingy which hides under the battery box) as it was missing.

fired her up & i have a new bike ! pulls great & smoothly now.

do you reckon it was this missing pipe causing me months of stress all along ?

CB750 / 750 F1 petrol tank problem
« on: July 18, 2011, 09:48:31 PM »
my 78 f1 petrol tap is strange. the outlet for the fuel pipe comes out horizontally (sideways) this means that my fuel pipe is a nightmare to route.
WHY NOT GET THE CORRECT ONE THEN i hear someone say !
well i have 2 others which point downwards (the correct type as one is still on another 750 f1 tank) but the thread on my petrol tank is too small for them.
anyone got a solution ?

apart from that, i still hate honda 4 cylinder carbs! (well, i will until i finally sort mine out.)
ps anyone live in the worthing / horsham area ?

CB750 / 2 questions about f1 carb settings
« on: June 13, 2011, 08:20:37 PM »
having problems with my carbs so i bought a set on ebay, described as all linkages free etc. when they arrived they were seized solid.
luckily my ultrasonic cleaning tank & new chemicals sorted them out. (it's bloody great)

2 questions

1) when i check the float height, is it with the tiny spring inside the needle jet pushed into the needle jet as when my carbs are upside down the weight of the float pushes it down.

2) the haynes manual says carb needles set on 3rd notch. (they have 5 notches so is it 3rd one from the top or 3rd one from the bottom)  or should i just toss a coin !

CB750 / headlight problem
« on: May 25, 2011, 12:01:15 PM »
passed mot 2 weeks ago with no probs (everything worked fine) now my headlight (hi & lo) will not work. thing is, when i use the pass (full beam flasher) it does work.
pilot & rear lights work.
sometimes though, the pilot & rear lights wont work unless i turn the ignition switch to parking lights & then back to ignition.
any thoughts out there. bike is 78 f1.
