Title: Too good to be true?
Post by: petermigreen on May 12, 2018, 05:49:29 PM
What's wrong with it, apart from the dodgy rear light and the speedo cable routing?

Wrong pipes, should be HM300's NOT 341's, dodgy electrical connection to what is obviously a pattern rear right indicator, screw missing from alternator cover, 2 screws below that on the sprocket cover look as if they aren't secured, cardboard? tacho face curling up inside, plus red line should be at 8,000 not 8500, I still say the tacho and speedo are on the wrong sides, pattern tail light lens, etc, etc, stay away if you have any sense at that price!

Basically this looks like it’s been lashed together for a sale. To restore this properly you’d need to sink at least £8-10k into it.

I don't see any bargains on that site.

I think that both points and alternator cover might be scrap, plus K1 carbs. You have to wonder about the missing alternator cover screw - did it just fall out, strip the thread,or snap off in the case?

Overspray on oil pressure switch makes me wonder if the whole engine was sprayed silver as a lump. Except for the chromed cam cover which needs stripping.

Something very odd about the fork tubes coming up through the yokes, not even clamping bolts present on the left. Mirrors and chain guard AWOL.

Little things like all the cables having a mind of their own, no tank trim, is the horrible seat even attached?

Relatively cheap for a K0 these days, but as James warns, a proper money pit to sort out.

Oh and where are the rubber caps on the lever ends?  :'(

Yes, and both legs have been pulled up through the yokes for some reason, or are from something else and just too long.
