It says there is no Mercury in what look like Manometer tubes - is there some sort of metal cone in the tubes that the vacuum pulls up into view to measure the flow?

Update:- Having watched the u-tube video I'm not sure what you are adjusting to balance the readings - is it the carb sliders or the air screws?

There is a firm on e-bay in the UK making what looks like decent replica silencers.
If I find the link I will add it to this  post.

Reading this Horror story about spokes makes me glad I've passed any problems with rims or spokes to the team at CWS.
I dropped off  my bare F&R hubs 500 hubs for powder coating & building with new valanced alloy rims SS spokes etc & for tyres to be fitted in December 2023.

When I enquired as to progress a couple of weeks ago the rims were at the Anodisers. That said when they did my 400 rims they were spot on aside from a tyre being fitted wrongly - an error they sorted foc by collecting the wheel & delivering it back.

My BiL has used them for many years never having an issue with the standard of builds mainly on old 2T Yamahas.

Well done Steve with the lathe work & casting - I'm still trying to work out how my Google Pixel 6 phone works - I need time I've only owned it for about 18 months. ;D ;D ;D

Good shout K2-K6 and well done Martin for finding it - I take little joy from doing electrics even more so if I think it's all done then they start causing a new fault.

Of course not considered that.

Daft question but presumably DS sell spoke kits so are they not more reliable or are they very expensive?

It might be worth draining the tank down  - add half a gallon of fresh fuel and adding  a full dose of injector cleaner. The cleaner In theory  should break down any of the petrol degrading scale that forms. It might need a short run to do it's work.

Easier than a carb strip down. I had 10 galls of fuel that had turned bad during lock down in our car.

The previous reply is a good shout.

I'm a complete chicken when it comes to wheel building so CWC did my 400 and at present have my 500 wheels.

It must be very satisfying to lace your own wheels. My brother is a very keen cyclist with over 40 years of experience. He used to cycle over 10k miles a year though he has slowed down a little now he is 65 but still hovers around the 8k miles a year mark. He uses a local retired wheel builder. He has recently bought a cycle wheel building rig - to date his fancy rig has yet to produce a single wheel. I think he quotes Technical issues -ffs it's not a jet engine I tell him.

Yes indeed Johnny, you convince yourself  that a new part can't be the cause so check loads of other things again. On my 400 I had a new cheap LED bulb off eBay. It worked fine when I first fitted the headlamp bowl spaghetti into the bowl. A few days later the bulb failed - I spent time you can't get back chasing the fault back to the new bulb that must have lasted for a total of 2 or 3 minutes of actual illumination.

I would be looking at the frame earth connection plus the main battery leads. My aftermarket fuse box from DS failed so I had to solder a fuse connection.
