Misc / Open / SOHC World Tour
« on: December 14, 2011, 09:40:45 PM »
Those of you that frequent the .net site will be familiar with this.

The tour started in March 2011 and Godzilla has travelled extensively. (In NZ now I believe)

We need some support for the European leg.

Anyone interested?

Some of the limits are different but it's basically the same.

I follow them on Twitter. Very quiet to start with but now they are starting to hit their stride...

I have been rummaging around in the barn this morning and found these.

The top yoke is different from the one on my 500/4 (?) and the clock mounting doesn't fit this yoke (the dimensions are different. Still, if anyone can shed any light or would like more detailed photos or measurements let me know.

There are no part numbers on any of the parts...

12k miles eh?

My bike's 39 years old and only has 11k on the clock.

I don't think he's around any more Bryan.

I'll see if I can get Glenn to modify it. What should it say?

I've never liked them either. Many of my mates in the 70's used them and they were always fiddling with their tune - trying to get the bloody things to run correctly.

Rejetting for a Piper exhaust was the limit of my skills (still is really...)

See avatar.

Oil threads are great!

If members = n, then opinions = (n+1)   ;D

My four-penneth...

In the 70's, only mineral oil was available, so that was what they used.
You can use the modern equivalent (made by Rock Oil or Silkolene) or go for a standard semi-synth 10W-40 (I use Halfords...)

I believe that full synth may affect your wet clutch operation although I've no first hand experience and it may be an urban myth  :)

CB500/550 / Re: Are 'DIY' Ultra sonic cleaners any good for carb cleaning?
« on: November 26, 2011, 09:43:37 AM »
One of my biking mates is a sub-aqua diver and uses these to clean the brass valves on his kit.

He's also a biker (VFR - so no carbs to clean) but says that they are ideal for cleaning the small brass parts and should work great on the carb bodies. Non-destructive and eco friendly. What more could you ask (other than one big enough to take a whole bank of carbs!)

Welcome!

What's the biking scene like in Serbia? (and what's the weather like?)
